QOTD: Well I grew up in the 90's in Seattle so I might be a coffee snob. I'm in Oregon now and decent coffee is readily available everywhere. Starbucks is most convenient for me because I can order my froofy picky goodness ahead of time and then zip through the drive through on my way to work, but it's not my fave. I do like Dutch Bros (what I wouldn't give for an Annihilator right now!) and Black Rock. We have a local chain, Bentley's, that's pretty good. My preference is always the small locally owned shops, but I don't get there as often as I'd like. In college I worked at a little espresso cart (before we realized we could put them in little shacks lol) in front of a drug store. The owner roasted his own beans in little two or three pound batches. I've never had better coffee.
Fun fact: the town I grew up in actually had to create an ordinance stating that an espresso cart could not be put within 1000 feet of an existing espresso cart. We take coffee very seriously in these parts! Lol!!!
I SURVIVED MY SURGERY YESTERDAY! I checked in at 845, had surgery around 11, they got done about 1, I woke up around 4, and was home again before 7!!!
I feel pretty good all things considered. Pain/nausea minimal but I'm staying on top of all the meds so that doesn't get worse. Home health nurse is coming to check on me today. The thing I was most freaked out about was the anesthesia, but my CRNA trained at the Mayo Clinic so I figured he knew what he was doing.
Hubby is waiting on me hand and foot, and us currently making an Excel spreadsheet of what I have to take when, my vitals, when I drank my itty bitty cups of water, and anything else he can think of. This is who he is as a person and between surgery and ADHD I can't remember all of it anyway so we make a good pair.
I'll just be making slow laps around my house and sipping water if anyone is looking for me! Ha!!!

Congrats on being on the other side! It sounds like you're in great hands. Just sip sip sip water and rest. Don't push yourself on food or even protein drinks in the first few days. Too many people struggle to tolerate things at first but as long as you stay hydrated, it should all fall into place. I've seen a scary number of people have solid foods or very unhealthy foods in the days after surgery and there's a risk to that, so just take it slow, follow your programs guidance, and sip water! I was out walking slowly within a few days, and as the weight falls off, you'll feel like being more and more active!
My hubby is making sure I'm drinking a little something every 15 minutes like my surgeon said. He has a spreadsheet and everything! He's tracking all my meds and all that good stuff too. I've been walking around the house for a few minutes at a time. Tomorrow I'm gonna try going to the mailbox!
My surgeon arranged for home health care to come check me out today. Hubby accidentally scared girl child (24) and told her a paramedic was here, which he was, but not because I was in distress. Gave me a couple bags of fluids and was in his way.
I'm sure looking forward to food again, but didn't do all this to mess up now! Taking things slowly and carefully

Congrats! Drink as often as you can, and walk regularly. Everything else will happen soon enough.
