Mornin' Weekenders!

the cookbook club meets this afternoon. The featured author is Teighan Gerard. We could use any of her books or her blog. I'd never heard of her, but she has a lot of followers and some interesting recipes on her blog. I read she rarely eats anything she cooks, though - she just eats fruit and salad. It shows - she's pretty tiny - almost anorexic-looking. But maybe she's just obsessed with food, so she deals with it by coming up with recipes (??). I know people on that end can be just as obsessed as the binge eaters. Regardless, I made her lavender white chocolate blackberry scones. They're too sweet for my taste, yet they're still delicious (and yes, DH and I cut one in half to "test" it).

nothing else going on today - although we may go over to MIL's late this afternoon and bring some of the stuff home that we're planning to keep. And maybe drop a stack of her books off at the library. I'm just kind of ready for this project to be over. It's been a month as of today. We're about 75% through it, so hopefully the rest will go pretty quickly.

QOTD: the first thing to come to mind was "The Wizard of Oz". There are definitely some differences between the book and movie, but the movie was very well done (at first I didn't like the book because it was too different from the movie - but I learned to love the Oz series, including that one (I read them when I was like 10 or 11, I think - there are tons of them - I read maybe the first five or six). Most adaptations are just - OK (and some are awful)

I'm not sure what all I'll be eating because of the party this afternoon, although I know a couple of people are bringing soup and someone is bringing a caramel chocolate cake. And some potato dish, I believe. These things are tough on my diet, but at least it's just once a month. My main goal at these is to not eat like a pig. Control.

coffee with half & half

crumpet with butter and lingonberry preserves, plain skyr with cranberry sauce

1/2 a scone

?????

probably something like soup or yogurt for dinner, since I'll be pretty full from the party. I still have some of the hot & sour soup I made the other day, so maybe that

have a great day, everyone!!

My Endocrinologist is booked out 6 months also. And she double books all day so that people can get in to see her.

Even rarer than an endocrinologist here is a rheumatologist. I had to wait 18 months to get an appointment with rheumatologist. Up until that I had to drive 3 hours to see one and then 3 hours back. I would hope that your doctor could go ahead and refer you knowing the long lead time. You don't have to accept the appointment when one is offered.

QOTD I don't know. I usually won't see a movie when I have already read the book as they are usually awful in comparison.

Food today has been a lot of fruit, a shake and some yogurt. Dinner maybe hot dogs, not very good choice, but we do like them grilled! There is peach pie for desert.

JB that is exciting news, you are moving forward. I hope the commute is short for you!

If it takes up to 6 months to get into the endocrinologist your PVP should put the referral in. If in March your A1C looks better you can always cancel any appt made. When I was in the hospital my surgeon had a wait and see attitude that was very frustrating, especially when I felt there was a problem. We spoke to a patient advocate regarding our concerns. This helped turn around the wait and see attitude. Is there a patient advocate for your clinic system?
