Helloooo Monday!

How funny, I am not as bothered about the WW pivot, I know more than most how damn hard and all encompassing weight loss is, and I would like to pipe these drugs into the earths water system. We used to be active people who lived off the land and now we are a sedentary, online community with more hormone injected and processed foods than ever before (generalizing but you know what I mean) and I know I need help. I just can't seem to do it on my own. So yes, while I agree with some of yours and Jen's points about how Oprah is hypocritical AND has made some real quacks famous, I'm not mad about the prescribing. I do think the inequity is just terrible - even the program where I get my wegovy is $49 a month and about $250 for the vial that lasts 6 weeks so that's just not possible for a huge swath of people.

I have found the wegovy to be life-changing and I'm on the lowest dose still. I get hungry much more quickly, and have fewer cravings. I never snack. I'm of course worried that I won't be ultimately successful and I'm very worried that if I do get to my goal and then go off of it, I'll be back on the regain train, but I'm hoping that I am building new habits and mental muscles.

I am in Philadelphia for my mom's cancer treatment so today's food is all over the place. A small piece of cheese bread for breakfast. Maybe a matzo ball soup for lunch? And dinner out with local friends so I need to look at the menu and see what looks good. I eat such smaller portions that a restaurant meal is like 3.
Have a most wonderful day! Christmas is 7 sleeps away!

Morning gang. We've got biblical rain and wind here. Just yucky. But it's really warm. It's 62 out, a week before Christmas. Just crazy.

I've had my first PT of this new round this morning. They really kick my ass. I'd like a shot at seeing how much extra I can make their legs bend. Fair is fair.

QOTD. That's a lot of things going on. I've never paid much attention to Oprah, on any subject. And it's probably way past time for Weigh****chers to evolve. 60 years is a long time, and we know a lot more now than we did then.

But I object to anything that makes getting a doctor's prescription as simple as answering a few online questions and paying a fee. If a medication doesn't truly need to be under a doctor's actual supervision, it should be available over the counter. If it does need a doctor's oversight, filling out an online form isn't enough. As usual, our system is messed up. There are those that want to make the morning after pill available only after THREE in person appointments with a doctor. That has nothing to do with medical need, of course, but simply an attempt to deny availability. We just have a horrid system.

Good morning! I not only survived the weekend, I had a very nice time. The weather was beautiful and the people were kind and engaging. I made as many good food choices as I could. In the end, I ate half a cookie and a small handful of crackers that I normally would not eat. The wine definitely got to me though. Glad I have a week at home. I'll be indulging in lots of water and zero calorie beverages. I did essentially zero exercise in the last 3 full days. Today is supposed to be my HIIT class, but they had to move it to their secondary location which involves a LOT of stairs with no handrails and that is not safe for me yet with my ankle. So I'm on my own today to make something happen. Right now I plan to do a yoga video, a high intensity 10 program with no jumping involved and then I want to make my 3 mile fast walk loop. I'm going to start on that as soon as Roger leaves for golf. Speaking of Rog, he's lost 5.2 pounds just since I started curtailing his portions and curating his menu. Men! I also need to go get groceries and hopefully pick up the the gift certificates/information for each of the Grands big presents which are experiences this year. Trying to support Mom and Dad's efforts to reduce the clutter from their home.

QoTD: I've been reading and following this. It's very disingenuous to me for Oprah to wait until after WW announces the acquisition to admit she's been maintaining with the help of medication. I don't have a problem with her choice to take meds, this is hard work. But I do have a problem with WW clearly following the biggest revenue stream and back tracking on years of lecturing us on how to be successful. And I agree with PP, she's got some answering to do for a lot of her choices over the year. I always felt Dr. Oz was a crackpot and skeezy from day one and could not understand why she had him up on a pedestal all the time.

Food is partly unplanned until I get back from the grocery store. I have really been trying to deep freezer dive and my efforts are paying off.

B: cottage cheese, turkey bits, grated peccorino

L: roast chicken meat with a wedge of laughing cow cheese mixed in. 1 or 2 25 cal zero carb tortillas.

D: tbd. I'm searching for something that calls my name and fits in my program for Roger that is high protein, low carb.

Peace everybody!

QJB- I am glad your classes went well. You deserve some down time but it sounds like you still have a busy day ahead of you.

I had a nice weekend. Did get a massage. The gal I went with only did light to medium pressure so more like a gentle rubdown. I prefer a deeper pressure but it did help the tightness in my neck and traps. I have been pretty good about getting in a walk everyday and a short beginner yoga video for exercise.

QOTD: I was not aware that WW is adding the weight loss drugs as an option. No real opinion either way.

G'afternoon, all!

I got up somewhat late this morning and had to go to my book discussion group, so I didn't post earlier. Home now for a few minutes, then off to see my financial advisor, which I'm dreading. I rolled my 403(b) into an IRA at Vanguard after I last saw him, and I know he wanted to manage that money himself. But I like managing some of my investments myself, and besides, he's a lot more expensive than Vanguard. I do keep an IRA with him, though, because that way I get his financial advice - and he often makes suggestions for the accounts of ours that he DOESN'T manage, too - which is nice because he doesn't have to do that. Anyway, I doubt he'll be mad because for all he knows if he ticks us off we could roll the money we have with him over somewhere else, but I'm still nervous about this meeting. I'm sure it'll go fine, though.

not much else going on, although I need to start thinking about Christmas. No gifts - more like the food and shopping for it (well, and making it, of course)

I'm trying to eat lightly today because I've eaten way too many cookies the last three days. Friday because I was baking them (I ate several of the broken ones), Saturday I went to two cookie parties, and yesterday I ate about five cookies after I got home from Rockford (IL). Feeling like the Hindenburg today

B: plain skyr with cranberry sauce, coffee with half & half

MS: protein bar

L: I'll wait until later this afternoon, after the meeting, since I'm in no mood to eat now. Maybe a Jimmy Dean's light breakfast sandwich

D: ?? Maybe just a salad with chicken strips on it

here's me at one of the cookie parties this weekend. I'm sitting there (green sweater) wishing everyone would stop talking so we could start eating the cookies!!

QOTD- I too followed Oprah, I did Optifast 12 week liquid diet less than 500 calories a day. At one time I did go to WW but was not into public humiliation. I don't ever want to weigh myself in front of others. After years of preaching will power etc it's interesting to see them pivot to weight loss drugs. Sadly the diet industry is over a billion dollars, actually more like 8 but don't quote me on that.

This is all a struggle for all of us. Not everything works for everyone.
