Good Morning! Sorry for the late start. I got home late from class and was too wound up to go straight to bed so I had a late night. Grim was kind enough to feed the cats this morning so I actually slept from midnight to 5:20am. I might opt into a nap later after Grim's PT appointment but this morning I need to spend some time clearing out the space they use. Because when it is not a PT space, it's a cookie class staging area--where I have all the supplies and boxes ready to go. I left it a mess as I ran out the door yesterday.

Other than class last night (which went really well!), the day was back to back customer service. So many people with so many questions. I will never understand the person who contacts me through my website where 90% of what I have listed are classes, clicks the contact button to ask me: "do you offer classes?". I also had someone yesterday insist that the time for one of my classes is different on the website than it was in the confirmation. It isn't. And on and on. I'm used to one weird question or demand a day, but yesterday had about ten. I hope this is not a sign of what is to come in the next few weeks as holiday stress increases. People are weird.

QOTD: Have you ever walked out of the movie theater because the movie was so bad you couldn't take another minute? It's been a long time since I have done that. Now that the internet offers reliable reviews, I'm more likely to pick correctly, I guess. I think the last one I remember walking out of was Gigli - the Ben Affleck / JLo disaster!

Accountability: IF is hard when you don't have a regular schedule. I got home late and decided to unwind with a hard seltzer and a rice cake. And I couldn't stop myself from making my yummy protein coffee this morning because I am overtired and the idea of just black coffee made me sad. Obvi I am a big old work in progress.

Good morning and happy Thursday!!

qotd - one called September Dawn. It was a fictionalized account of the Mountain Meadows Massacre of a wagon train by Mormons. It was badly cast, badly written and took a lot of liberties with the facts. I finally just got up and left.

final full day of this work trip, I'm participating in a panel for all of our directors and above this afternoon, dinner with my boss tonight at a Persian restaurant and head home early in the morning. Yay for heading home!

I am a bit sad this morning, I had half of a very delicious jalapeño popper burger for dinner last night and bought the other half home to the hotel for breakfast. My room has a fridge but no microwave and while there are left overs I will eat cold, I'm not really feeling it with the burger. Sad whomp whomp noise.

Menu

coffee plus half and half X2

power bar

pepperoni snack sticks

One of the Persian chicken dishes and probably some dips before hand

I can't deal with warmed up leftovers. I must have them cold! I think it's a left over side-effect from the lap-band, when anything that was microwaved became too dried out and triggered an immediate vomit response. But now after 15 years, I prefer them cold and I would love to have your cold burger! Can you tell I woke up hungry?

I would bring it to you if you were here, lol. It was really yummy. Jalapeño popper cream cheese, pickled jalapeños on top.

I can not eat anything microwaved either. I would rather have cold steak, cold pizza or cold spaghetti than deal with the way food comes out of the microwave.

I remember when they first came out (early-mid 80s, I think? I can't remember) one claim advertisers used to make to push their product was that their microwave was big enough to cook a turkey in (we still have one of those turkey-sized ones in the basement as a backup - it was my first microwave). Can you imagine anyone cooking a turkey in a microwave? Egad!

My mother had one of those. One year she did cook the turkey in it and so did a lot of other people. I don't remember if the turkey was good or not but don't remember that happening again.

We had that one! I laugh because my seat at the kitchen table was directly next to that giant microwave for my entire childhood. I am pretty sure no good long term health effects could come from my head being 5" from that thing for 15 years.

There may be a way to get your leftovers reheated. If the hotel has a restaurant or room service, they may let you use their microwave. They may have an employee microwave, as well. I've become resourceful about food in hotel rooms. I've used irons, coffee maker warmers, coffee pots, etc to cook food and reheat leftovers.
