La Jolla. Guess how the Pittsburgher pronounced it the first time she read it. LOL

Mornin' All!

I can't remember if I told you guys this or not, but. my new dentist recommended I wear a mouth guard at night because he thinks the wear on my lower left molars (the side I habitually chew on) is due to teeth grinding or jaw clenching. I'm pretty sure my previous dentist might have mentioned that possibility at one time, but I would have told him that I don't grind my teeth (because I didn't think I did). Well, I got a cheapo mouth guard at Walgreens to see if I can tolerate one before I have one custom-made (which I might not if this thing seems to be generally OK...). Anyway, those morning headaches I wake up with pretty much every morning that are gone on their own after about an hour? My PCP said when I asked a year or two ago that they might be due to low blood sugar or caffeine withdrawal - which made total sense since about the time they went away was after I'd had my morning coffee and eaten breakfast. Well, much to my surprise, I haven't had a headache since I started wearing this mouth guard two weeks ago! So it was due to teeth grinding or jaw clenching in my sleep! (except for this morning - woke up with one - but it could be due to the fact I took the mouth guard out at 3:00 AM because it was driving me nuts - or it could be weather-related - I think they're calling for rain tonight). Anyway, huge surprise! And my dental hygienist cousin did confirm that such behavior CAN cause headaches, so I bet that was it!

but in addition to this slight headache I woke up with this morning (and still have), I'm feeling a bit dizzy. Not sure what's going on, but hopefully I'm not coming down with something since I have some things going on this weekend.

I'm taking my car in for a regular maintenance appt this afternoon. It's supposed to be 50F, and no rain yet, so I'll do some walking while they're working on my car. It's supposed to be warm tomorrow as well. Great!!

QOTD: one of the cats wakes me up around 5:00, so I get up, feed the cats, and start the coffee. Sometimes I fall back to sleep for another hour or two, but usually not. After I get my first cup of coffee, I prop myself up in bed and check email, Facebook, OH, read a few articles from the WaPo, and do Wordle, Waffle, Worldle (a geography game - Jen plays it, too), Globle, Globle Capitals, and one or two versions of Redactle. And occasionally, a crossword puzzle. Then after all that, I get ready for my day (which is sometimes not until 9 or 10 - the joys of being retired!). At night (before bed) it's medicating the three cats who get meds, doing my own med (Forteo injection), taking my iron, vitamin C, and CMD gummies, and then it's back online (which I know is bad****il the cat who normally sleeps on my pillow next to my head lets me know that he wants to go to sleep, so I need to get off the damn laptop and turn the light out!

B: coffee with half & half, 1/3 C sweet potato casserole topped with L&F creme brûlée yogurt and 2 T cranberry sauce

MS: it's almost 11:00, so probably nothing

L: not sure - maybe a salad and some protein?

AS: Ratio yogurt or a protein muffin

D: some chicken salad recipe I found on Epicurious.com. (which I recently subscribed to - it was free until about a year ago and I wasn't going to subscribe, but I miss so many of the recipes I used to make (which I never downloaded because I never thought they'd start charging) that I finally bit the bullet and subscribed (and I've been downloading recipes that pop into mind in case I decide not to renew my subscription next year)

have a great day, everyone!

I got used to the mouthguards fairly quickly. Now it doesn't feel right if they are missing when I lie down.

Fezzik is such a great cat. Does that name have a meaning?

Our favorite movie is The Princess Bride. Fezzik & Inigo are some of the heroes in that movie so our boys have those names :)
