What's on your Saturday menu?

Good mornin y'all. Hope your weekend is off to a good start!

Not sure what, if anything, is planned for the day. I'm ok with that!

I need to work on earrings or anything really. I haven't been doing much chainmail the past week or so. Just haven't felt like doing it. I let too many things zap my energy away and my joy. The pain will always be here and I just need to accept that...plain and simple.

QOTD:what food is your krptonite(sp?)? Or what food is your hardest to keep around the house?

Cheese for me on the first one..I love cheese a little too much. My mom just has to have candy around the house...any kind of candy with peanuts and chocolate(I'm looking at you M&Ms) is hard for me to resist.

B: oatmeal and coffee x2

L: shrimp something

D: potato soup

Enjoy your day working on chainmail. I think it's important to embrace the joy you find, when you find it.

I love the candy corn meme!

Today is a busy one for me. I am teaching a full class this afternoon. Class is from 2 - 4 but between travel, set up, and clean up, I am out of the house from 12 - 5. I am also finishing up a big cookie order due later this week.

QOTD: I think all food is my kryptonite. I don't seem to have one thing that I crave above all others. Depending on my mood I might be craving chocolate one minute, spicy foods the next etc. If I am in the mood for something savory, and there is chocolate around I can take it or leave it and vice versa, but when I want the thing, I want the thing.

One thing I do know though, is that if I have to really cook something (as opposed to grab and go), I am much less likely to bother. I am trying to be better about not having as many things to grab because I would eat 12 babybel cheeses before I cooked something, so I am trying to curb that. Has anyone seen the TikTok about "ingredient moms"? I am not a mom but otherwise that's me to a T.

Accountability: All good all day until I found some old pretzels in the cabinet after 10pm. This is why I shouldn't stay up late!

I bet cookie class was fun! Hopefully this one was more energizing for you.

Mornin' All!

cookbook club meets today. I wasn't crazy about this book (it featured sort of old-fashioned diner-style recipes - and that's NOT my genre), so we'll see how this goes. I made the pumpkin cheesecake recipe that was in there (one of the few I found that sounded appealing) - although I was bad and made some modifications because the thing was too bland (we're really supposed to make things according to the recipe in the book since we'll be discussing the book, good and bad. If I make a recipes again later for DH and myself, then I can make as many modifications as I want to, of course!). First I made a gingersnap crust instead of a graham cracker one - because they add WAY more flavor to cheesecakes and to those pumpkin pies that feature that type of a crust - and secondly, I kept dumping in more pumpkin spices to the filling because the thing was just so damn bland. Unfortunately, I read yesterday (after making the thing) that the author was coming to the meeting - so worst possible time to take liberties with the recipe. Although they're not HER recipes - she collected them from actual diner-like places - so maybe she won't be too miffed! (plus I happen to personally know her, so there's that...)

QOTD: I'm like QJB - the particular type of food doesn't matter that much, because my cravings can be all over the place. I can let things sit for a very long time, even cookies, ice cream, and chocolate. It's more the grab-and-go aspect. If I'm really hungry and cooking dinner, I'm at risk of grabbing crap out of the fridge and cramming it down my throat, even though I know dinner will be ready in 20 minutes. And then I'll eat the dinner, too...

these cookbook club days can be tough because we won't end up eating until around 2:00, which is a weird time for me. So here's a crack at it:

coffee with half & half

protein shake

skyr with fruit (around 11:00-ish)

1:30-3:00-ish - cookbook group - there will be lots of things there, so ??

something light for dinner - maybe more yogurt - or this microwavable 1/2 pita stuffed with cheese and egg that's been sitting in my freezer forever

have a great day, everyone!

Maybe the author doesn't have all the recipes memorized and will just appreciate the tastier version. Hope it went well!

Good morning Mel and weekend menuers,

Hope you're able to get some chainmail done today if that's what you need to do. It's hard finding a normal to work from, and I hope the doctors respond to you.

QOTD- Can't think of any single thing. If I'm on track there's nothing that will tempt me. If I'm in a carb sink...Cheez-its maybe?

Haven't been posting much. Today I'll pick up two prescriptions. I get a bit amused since it feels like I get a refill notification as soon as I pick up something. Trying to think if there's anything I need to do while in town and drawing a blank right now. Washing and cleaning the car still needs to happen.

It's raining, raining, raining today and I love it. Means I get to break out my little tartan umbrella. It's newer since my favorite umbrella is a giant-sized rainbow one. I used to get wet unless I had those big ones but not so much now unless the rain is coming in sideways. Might go to the bigger town and look for winter shirts. I can always use long sleeves and high necks, and Walmart's prices make Goodwill a cheaper option these days. Honestly, I get some great brands at Goodwill. Anyway.

Other cleaning things. Some cooking. I will ignore work as I got the final budget turned in before my appointment yesterday. I'll also spend some more time setting up my exercise schedule for the next few weeks. I'm not supposed to sweat for a few days after my treatment yesterday, so I'll do some stretching. It's going pretty well!

Menu today is eggs, yogurt, baked fish, baked chicken. I'll throw something in the crock pot, I'm sure. First freeze is coming!

Cheers.

Try the Quest cheese crackers. They are pricey, but they will fix your Cheez-it craving. At least they do for Amy and me!

Thanks! I have a box of them in the cupboard that I'm saving for special occasions...or just the raging craving. They're so much thicker but have that lovely crunch!

Cheez-Its are an in-between for for me. If they're sitting in front of me I'll eat the whole box. But I've never craved them, or gone to buy them. If I'm picking a snack food I'll get regular chips. I'll never say no to a chip.
