just checked - it was part of the Hapsburg Empire from 1775-1918. I know it was also called Austria-Hungary during much (maybe all?) of that time, too.

Austria-Hungary was only in existence from 1867-1918. But the empire goes back to the 1200's.

Mine came back 100% Irish. You would think somewhere along the line, someone would have been with a person who was not Irish. While I was waiting for my results, I was thinking maybe it would come back that I was not really related to some of my weird relatives. But they were all on the chart.

it just occurred to me that those thermostat settings I mentioned (68/day and 62/night) are the winter settings. I don't know exactly what DH has it set at in the summer - but somewhere in the 70s.

This is So Cool!!!

Can you find out more about your Swedish family history and tell us please you look SO Swedish ( that means beautiful:) .

Is that your Mom ( obviously not and obviously I don't read well... but you look like relatives :)

How do you enjoy the local food offerings? Seven types of pickled and smoked herrings lol . Im not making fun my Dad loves nothing more than pickled herring and onions from a jar . If that was the only possible food choice Id rather boil birchbark or gnaw on old shoe leather. Sorry but there it is .

the woman in the photo with me is my mom's second cousin, but she's my age (60s) (my mom is 88). Her grandmother and my great grandfather were siblings, but I think there were some big age gaps there.

I actually never had herring while I was there! I had a lot of pastries, though. Everyone seemed to serve fika when I was at their respective houses ("fika" is a Swedish tradition of coffee and a cinnamon, cardamom, or some other kind of bun/roll in the morning - or coffee and a piece of cake in the afternoon. There are many days I had two fikas!). I also loved the Danish rye bread (rugbrod) that seems to be ubiquitous in Denmark and Sweden. I had that every morning at breakfast. It's a very dark bread full of grains and seeds. I mostly ate yogurt, quark, or skyr (all pretty similar) for breakfast and dinner if I was by myself, because all those pastries we had every day were probably loaded with calories.

G'morning all!

QJB - Those cookies look adorable.

Chocolate and dessert have always been on the other side of my pyramid.

Yesterday I did so much better, thanks to all for your words of encouragement. I stuck to my food plan, I did my workout and I even made up for the workout I missed on Wed. Funny thing is around 8:20 right when I finally breathed a sigh of relief thinking I'm done; I will now crochet for about an hr to relax, watch an episode or two of Yellowjackets and then bed time. So while I'm sighing this message pops up on my watch!! No kidding Sherlock, where were you on Wed when I needed you?

But here is what makes me really take a breath and appreciate my life.

QOTD: I think ours is around 68 day and night.

My meals yesterday:

  • Coffee
  • Rolled oats
  • Jello w/whipped coconut, PP smoothie
  • Eggwich
  • E: 6 miles wog, two sessions of weights

Happy Fri-yay!

Beautiful scenery. I hope one day to see the Pacific Ocean. And I'm glad your day was better but I hope it gets even better. Stress is so hard to release sometimes but counted breathing can help me sometimes.
