What's on your Thursday Menu?
No one had AC when I was a kid. Many cars had no radio, and if you wanted one it was extra.

We had a blue VW Beatle with no radio. We had a little transistor radio that we hung in the front. It also had pretty terrible heat, I can't remember why. When I got a different car the heater stopped working and I did not notice until I drove my father somewhere and he told me that the heater was not working. I was so used to being cold in the VW that I thought it was normal to have almost no heat.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
The VW Bugs had air cooled engines, like a lawnmower. Cars get heat by circulating ho****er from the radiator through the inside of the car. VWs didn't have that. They actually burned gasoline inside the passenger compartment to make heat! They broke easily, and went boom if repaired wrong. Mechanics learned not to go near those heaters, at any price.

We didn't have call wait, so if you were on the phone more than 3 minutes and mom was trying to call home you were in deep doo-doo. But how can you talk to your crush for only 3 minutes? My mom had put an egg timer next to the phone to know when the 3 minutes was up.

Happy surgiversary, QJB, you look wonderful. Were you practicing Barbie feet in preparation for the movie?
QOTD - I was recently explaining to a young in their career colleague that I pre-date email and that we used to have someone's whose job was to run the buildings and deliver all the faxes. I remember when we were able to get faxes to our email and that seemed like a game changer.
Busy work day today, meeting after work that means I can't do my grocery shopping on the way home which annoys me but not much else going on.
menu today
coffee plus half and half X2 - had a scary moment this morning when the Keurig turned itself off rather than delivering the life saving elixir. Fortunately it worked when I tried it a second time.
left over trip tip

I do an excellent vocal imitation of the Keurig noises. It's excellent when I want JB to come-a-runnin'.

Jen, I remember when we first got voicemail. We went to an office wide training and learned that the standard for responding was by the end of the next day.
