I feel for you with the tight shoes. When I have to dress up to go somewhere, my first thought is what shoes will I need with this and will I be able to stand them. Because of my balance issues and worrying about falling I have worn tennis shoes almost every day for the last year. Flipflops and sandals do not have enough support for me now. I am going to do some rehab to work on the balance issues.

I was having hip pain and worried that I would need a hip replacement. I had x-rays last week and there is no problem with the hip. The orthopedic specialist says the pain is nerve related. He said the good news is that it should get better. Just part of growing older and dealing with a body that seems to always have some issues.

Hoka has a recovery shoe out that Shelia brought to my attention. You may want to look into it just to have another shoe option. Hoka Sandals

I have been hearing great things about Hoka. I just ordered the recovery slide and think they will be great. Thank you so much for recommendation.

I have Archies flip flops. They have arch support. If the hokas don't work they may be another option.

a great way to work on your balance is to practice standing on one foot only while brushing your teeth or doing dishes. You can lean your hips into the counter if you need additional support while you build strength. Switch feet back and forth and extend the time you are able to balance on one foot. It's nice gentle core work to start strengthening your core and begin to rebuild balance skills.

I have been trying to balance on one foot and did not think to lean on something for support. This will really help. I have been doing a lot of walking in the pool and won't get hurt if I fall there. Thank you for the suggestions.

I have a wide toe box, which I didn't know was a thing till 10 years ago. I always cringe when seeing those pointy-toed witch shoes women cram their feet into. Or stiletto heels. I'm glad they work for people but yeah, I don't like putting my feet in torture devices!
