Good morning all and Happy Tuesday,

It's a really beautiful morning. It's 75 and sunny and a great day to be alive. I'm on the go today. Coffee meeting, zoom meeting with a non-profit, spend family time in the burbs, Ikea, and to the CPAP 'showroom.' My CPAP got fried in the flood. I'm hoping it's just the power source that needs replacing. Otherwise, I may be on the hook for it.

I am pretty sure that his keen sense of wit. When I was growing up, the Montgomery Ward catalog had live donkeys and I always tried to talk my mom into ordering one. We lived on a small lot in the city and I thought the donkey could just live in the garage. Never happened.

I wonder if M. Wards took any donkey returns. I ordered the monkey through Amazon prime 2 day shipping. We'll see how long Amazon takes to deliver. Yes, I'm just joshing.

That donkey was going to be my new baby brother. But Wards did take returns.

There was a point where I read about a company that provided you with a monkey and you trained it to be an assistant to a handicapped person. My son had just left home and I tried to convince my husband that we should get one of those monkeys to fill our empty nest. He did not agree and I got a kitten instead.

The organization is called Helping Hands and for about 40 years it ran a Monkey College and trained capisun monkeys to help people with handicaps. Due to laws about wild animals, the organization no longer trains monkeys but there are many monkey/handicapped human teams where the monkey helps with things like dropped objects, pushing buttons, retrieving items.

The monkey never leaves the home so you never see one in a store like you would a service dog.

George Romero (Night of the Living Dead) made a movie called Monkeyshines about exactly this. Definitely never getting a monkey.

I just looked that movie up and will not be watching it. It is true that they will always be a wild animal no matter how domesticated they seem. A priest told me a story once about a lady who wanted to bring her pet monkey to her son's wedding. The priest did not allow the monkey in the church, but she did dress him in a suit and tie and brought him to the reception dinner. The priest said that the monkey was very polite and behaved perfectly.

We go Monday for the last pre-test. They are doing an endoscopy to ensure that his throat collapses the "correct" way. 85% do. If that result is positive, they'll schedule the implant. We'll find out for sure on the 4th of August. Fingers are crossed!
