Fireworks were made legal here last year. Mainly due to the lobbying efforts of a very wealthy man who owns a fireworks factory and business. He purchased an old GM factory and a warehouse and set up his business making and selling fireworks. Then he worked on the state politicians until he got the laws changed. Money can buy most things.

I live in New York City and they used to sell illegal fireworks in Chinatown but I haven't seen them in a long time . Still people manage to buy or import them and every July fourth weekend there are a lot of scared animals and fireworks related accidents :( .

I've been looking for a new apartment and picking up lots of food driving around in the meantime. I find myself eating when Im not hungry and certainly not restricting myself to prescribed mealtimes .

But having to walk ( most Manhattanites walk an average of six miles per day ! ) has made a small difference in my contour.

Im getting pretty frustrated because the landlords are so incredibly demand vetting tenants after getting beaten up financially during Covid - they reject you for practically nothing at all . I hope I can find a new place before my lease runs out at the end of the month !

Its pouring rain here so my shopping and walking plans have been suddenly canceled!

I was rejected for two great apartments and too slow to see two more .... so now I'm waiting to hear from three tomorrow one of which is my absolute favorite but all have super picky landlords now ???so Im just worrying and waiting and doing laundry.

I also asked two of them to make special accommodations ( I need a lot of very sunny roof space or outdoor space ) and they're usually not very accommodating to that either so ... its a challenge.

Of course my wish list is huge too - high floor water view spacious easy parking new renovation ... lots of desirable amenities ... and a fairly reasonable price and decent neighborhood.

So far today - chopped Asian salad with miso dressing

two tiny cupcakes w most of the frosting removed

Green chicken soup ( Parsely and Cilantro in it I think and green chilies) about 2 cups w slice of olive bread

halo top ice milk about one cup

later - maybe barbecued ribs n mashed potatoes or beef stew / goulash .

QOTD- Just the ones that don't leave the ground. But most people just go across the state line or to the Indian Reservation to buy the big ones.

I didn't hear any last night, so I'm hoping that carries over into tonight. Especially since it is supposed to get up to 97 today, and 96 tomorrow. We don't need any more forest fires...

I'm working today but only have about 2hrs and 40 minutes left, not that I'm counting.

I'm not letting the kitties out today, especially since I found that they discovered a hole in the fence between my property and the neighbors kitty corner behind me. So they have been enjoying their yard, I need to find a way to prevent them from going through. Plus I don't want them out because of the heat and the fireworks potential.

On an unhappy note I can't get into my Social Security account and I'm afraid it's been hacked. The office is closed so there isn't anything that I can do.

I need to get back to work.

Have a happy and safe fourth!
