What's on your Tuesday Menu?

Good mornin everyone.

I have a sneaking suspicion that I might have an ulcer. They made me take some aspirin at the hospital and they did so on an empty as heck stomach. Hopefully I'm wrong but considering my luck... I got some decent sleep, not great but decent. We had an unexpected thunderstorm last night which is good. We're supposed to be upwards of 103° today.

I have my pre op appointment this morning and my last appointment with my psychologist. I know I'm going to cry, I am happy for her but sad for me.

QOTD: surgery on the 6th. Most of all being able to eat. Still have a horrid gag reflex.

Food...breakfast is likely nothing. Lunch maybe some broth from the soup my mom made and dinner I might try to get down a PS.

It's such a bummer to lose someone in your support circle, sorry that's happening.

Hopefully no ulcer...would hate for you to have to add that to the list of things you're handling. And hope your appointments went okay.

I agree with the meme! It is so true. I have tried to like running many times over the years but eventually it is not for me. However, I do love the convenience of the exercise since it is highly portable.

I have been a little MIA since arriving in Montana to help with my mom. I took over care duties from my older sister who babied and catered to mom. I am the drill sergeant who is going to get her moving more independently. I am making her prepare her own meals (easy convenience stuff), take her meds, shower, exercise, etc. We have increased mom's activity a bit and she is feeling it. She is super weak and needs to be pushed. She still does not want to move because of pain (5/10) but I push her anyways. She is now 5 weeks out from a major back surgery so she will still have some pain but she needs to work through it since this is the last week anyone will be staying with her. My nephews wedding on Saturday was really fun. I danced a lot and saw some family.

Working remotely from Montana. Up early to get an early yoga class in. I have been diligent with exercise but my eting could be better.

QOTD: Nothing at the moment.

Meals:

Yogurt with berries and keto granola, asian chicken salad with light sesame ginger dressing, protein frosty, sf chococlate, dinner TBD if out with family-maybe tacos.

E: yoga

You are doing the right thing by pushing your mom to be more independent. I sometimes have to tell my family not to do things for me, because I need to not depend on them. Sounds like you are doing the best you can for her and you are still taking care of yourself. Good job.

It's good what you are able to be there for your mom.

Hope you can motivate your mom to help herself. I always threaten my mom that I will institutionalize her if she does not cooperate. Been working pretty good so far.

I'm glad your mom has you. My SD's mom keeps having accidents and shying away from the pain she needs to work through to improve. Her world is getting smaller and smaller and she's panicking...but won't do anything differently. I hope your mom appreciates you in the long run.

Good morning ~ Glad you are home safe and sound. I used to love running, still love the idea of running, but it was so hard on my body. Who knows, someday maybe I'll try again? It was like therapy to me. In the meantime if I could just make a move plan and stick to it that would be great. I had a good day at work yesterday, very productive and positive. I thought I was overwhelming the new person, but the opposite may be true. It's been so nice having a break from training. Since I haven't been able to get into a book, I've been enjoying a quiet commute. It's been peaceful, like personal therapy. I'll take it - the books will still be there when I'm ready.

QOTD - For work to move past this transition stage and into the new phase of my position learning other things. Sometimes the thought is scary like I'm in over my head, but right now I'm excited.

Accountability - strawberries and cream last night

B- coffee, HB eggs

l - chicken breast, salad toppings

d- turkey taco meat, taco toppings

s- tomatoes, cucumbers if needed and probably strawberries and cream

Have a great day!

My running days were in the 1960's, 1970's, and 1980's. We did not have good running shoes when I did a lot of running and I believe a lot of my knee problems go back to running in cheap tennis shoes on hard surfaces. Back then we had mottos like No Pain, No Gain and just ran through the pain instead of treating it. I would run through the pain for months until I would finally not be able to run at all and then take about six weeks off to rest.

If you are running with good shoes and sensible pain treatment, it is wonderful exercise and I would encourage you to try to get back to it, even if only for short distances. I learned too late that just ice on my knees was a great help.
