I have been treated to shorter night's sleep also. Not 4 hours but bed around 10:30 with wake-up around 4:30. After a few days of this I find myself word searching and have sentences half finished. Although this weekend I was super tired and sluggish, maybe from early mornings several days last week or not working out on the weekend?

Good morning QJB and menuers,

Glad your knee is doing a bit better.

Re that meme...I never could understand conflated resumes or people lying for stuff. I had a guy bring a binder of all his certificates and qualifications and then get floored when I actually went through it. Just about everything was expired.

QOTD- Not on our own property. I used to work on a dairy farm a couple miles up the road. Would ride my bike there. What really stuck in my memory was the time the power went out and the cows had to be milked by hand. Ugh.

Today is the fullest day here. I have a couple of meet and greets on the calendar and am trying not to over schedule. My peer saw me duck out yesterday and was shooting me texts. Given some of the symptoms I have, the only polite thing to do is run from others. Trust me.

When I went to leave it was pouring rain. I tried checking my phone to see about how long it would last so I could plan. I did not bring and umbrella...my phone insisted that it was not raining. I hopped from overhang to overhang between the deluges and made it to Oceana grill for dinner. Their special was flounder stuffed with a crab cake and topped with shrimp and crawfish sauce. I got it blackened and was able to eat half.

Accountability- Oatmeal raisin cookie as a snack. Beignet and a half at Cafe Du Monde.

Exercise- All in all I walked a couple of miles yesterday. Very happy with that, though my legs are sore from it. Yay, progress!

Menu - Up in the air. Breakfast and lunch at the conference. Dinner may be a working one or I may pick up an order and work from the room.

Cheers everyone!

When I worked out of town, I always knew people were watching how much time I spent in the office. It was before the days of remote work and I would be there at 6:30 or 7:00 PM when everyone else left at 5:00. I realize how hard it is with your current medical issues. It is probably a good idea to stay in the office as long as possible rather than working from your room. Your peer may also be a person who complains to management about you spending company funds to travel and then not being on site. Just something to be aware of and protect yourself.

Great call out! I'm at a conference so it's attendance in the sessions and networking. I talked to my leadership team before coming to set expectations on what I might need to do, so the stepping out is known. Last Friday I sat down and covered a return to work plan with both my boss and his boss to give me a path back to the office. I'm very concerned about being able to meet expectations while managing through, so I'm erring on the side of over communicating upward. I could do better at pinging my peers though.

Good morning and happy Wednesday! We are at the half way point, whoo-hoo!!

Busy work day today, plus the roofer is coming to look at what the insurance company approved, hopefully they agree on the things....then I have to figure out how to get the mortgage company to endorse the payment (there's a number to call so I'm sure there's a process). This evening I'm meeting friends to see Little Mermaid and very excited. It's at the eat in theater so that will be great and make dinner planning easy.

QoTD - we moved from the south side of Chicago to the middle of nowhere on 50 acres when I was a kid. Once we got there my parents decided they were farmers (spoiler - they were not farmers) but every year we raised a pig and a cow for slaughter, they also had chickens for a bit but the problem with the chickens was that roosters were mean AF and would attack me if I came outside...and they were all free range (again, not farmers) so coyotes would eat them. After all the hens were gone, my dad killed the rooster and that was the end of chickens. Random other animals we had were a goat, a lamb, geese (the flock of which would diminish night over night, again coyotes), and we did have two horses for a bit (parents were not ranchers either). It is a lot of work taking care of that many animals, I think it might be part of why I am an early person, had to get up to get it all done before the 6:04 school bus.

menu today

I can't picture South siders raising farm animals. I can definitely picture how they tried to motivate the animals though. Move your ass, pig, or you'll be sasssage!
