No, not beautiful. Unless you own a roofing company or a car body repair place.

Yes, that's fair. Hail can run the gamut with damage, and I hope you don't have any. That had to have been an onslaught. I got caught on the plains somewhere transitioning between South and North Dakota a few years ago in a storm. I sat in the side of the road cradling my terrified dog and waiting for my windshield to implode. It felt like an hour and there still wasn't as much as you had. Wasn't trying to make light of it from this side.

Mornin' All!

well MIL leaves the nursing home today (where she's been in rehab for the last ten days) because her insurance won't cover it after today, so we'll see how that goes. She's supposedly going to continue getting care at home - PT/OT twice a week plus a home health aide and Meals on Wheels. I'm sure she's ecstatic about going home, though She hasn't been there since April 6. I'm sure she's greatly missed her computer, Netflix, and her cat - among other things.

It's a gorgeous day - rain comes back tomorrow and will stay through the weekend, so I'll get out on my bike again today. I also still have some work to do on my "To Do" list, and I have a hair appt later this afternoon.

I applied for permission to audit two classes this summer - one in the sociology dept on "Fatness" (wanted to take this last spring, but it was full - but this summer one is online, so it shouldn't matter) and a second one, also online, from the anthropology dept. John Hawks, an evolutionary anthropologist, will be teaching it - he's quite well-known because he was head of the team that discovered a previously unknown human species a few years back in a South African cave network **** naledi. I followed him for quite awhile after that and have been wanting to take a class with him, so hopefully I can get into this class, too!

QOTD: I really have nothing in common with my mother at all. My father and I shared several interests, and he was very academically-oriented and read constantly - about pretty much everything. I'm also academically-oriented and have wide interests, but he was way, way, WAY moreso than I've ever been. I used to hate playing Trivial Pursuit with him back when it was the thing in the 80s, because he'd always win the damn game before I even had a chance to take a turn. Grrr. HOWEVER, he was bipolar (and later in life, he had Alzheimer's), so our relationship was...shall I say...challenging at times. Well, most of the time. I think if it weren't for that, we would have been very close.

B: skyr with 1/2 mango, coffee with half & half

MS/L: protein shake

L/AS: maybe one of those Jimmy Dean light breakfast sandwiches I've had in my freezer forever - and/or Greek yogurt with mixed fresh fruit salad (no dressing)

D: I may just have cheesecake-flavored yogurt pie with cranberry/cherry compote, since I won't be home in time from the hair appt to make anything (unless it's really quick)

have a great day, everyone!

No one will play Trivial Pursuit with my dad. He wipes the floor with everyone. No one likes to play with me either--not because I will win, but because I am a very sore loser, lol.

Good morning, everybody!

Its axiomatic in public relations that bad news is issued on Friday. Get the release into the news cycle while everybody is focused on their weekend plans and by Monday people will already sort of know about it.

So, when we got email messages Friday afternoon about return to office policy, I knew it wouldn't be good. Basically, we need to be in the office an average of three days a week, effective immediately. The three days isn't so bad, but its the average that stings. Because when you take out vacations, holidays, office closure, etc. three days a week really means 4. Especially since I backloaded all of my vacation plans into the last 4 and 1/2 months of the year.

Besides the life sucking traffic, this messes with my training plans. Generally, I go to lifting on Monday and Wednesday mornings from about 9-10:30. That is when my coach is available. In theory, I could go from 8:-9:30, shower at the gym and go into the office from there. But I'm dreading that: the packing, the toiletries, the changing, UGH! Crossfit is much easier, there are classes all day from 5:30 AM until 7:30 PM.

For the time being I am going to go into the office Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. As soon as I leave for Bermuda next week, that will put me behind pace. I guess, I will stay with that schedule until my weightlifting meet June 3rd and then re-assess. If the 3x average is being actively managed, I may need to make a more drastic change.

We are going to breakfast with both boys this morning. Tonight my older flies back to Colorado for summer session and DD is coming home for a short visit. We messed up the opportunity to have all three home at once.

QOTD: I have some mannerisms that are like my Mom.

Breakfast: Corned Beef hash

Lunch: Sandwich

Dinner: Chicken and veggies

Have a great day, all!

all the more reason to retire early! Greg seems to be going in a lot more than the 2-3 days they said they'd be in the office once they settled on this "hybrid" plan. Maybe that'll be the case this summer, when the office workload drops quite a bit, but it sure hasn't been the case this past spring semester...

I am sorry it is throwing a wrench in your gym time. I am hoping to get released so I can get back to the gym. Now I do a half hour of stretches and icing to get my arm back in working order. If I can be released from doing that maybe I can get a walk in.
