What's on your Tuesday Menu, y'all?
Rest up because it won't be helpful in the long run if you don't heal.

Good morning everyone,
A Grim post! Yep, good luck. Why are injured people so hard to wrangle (cough cough)?
QOTD- I can take or leave actors. For me, there are directors I'll go out of my way for. Hayao Miyazaki, Wes Anderson, the Cohen Brothers.
So. I'm home. Yay for that. My team from work pulled together, came and got me and we caravanned down to my country house. They helped me wrangle dogs and it took over 3 hours out of their days. In other news, the release nurse started talking about my personal information in front of them, including bariatric diets. They don't know I had surgery, so now have to process what to do with that. They got to see my stomach because I was waiting to have my IV removed. They do also now understand that I live in the actual country, and they all think it's pretty out here.
I've finally cataloged my three new incisions to add to the bag. I also apparently gained 300 pounds and lost all strength when I got home. Given how much blood I'd lost and everything, not sure why so sudden. I'd been pumped full of at least 15 liters of fluid during the stay. My kidneys are still working on it. I did really gain 12 pounds but could care less about that other than some pretty nasty bloating. It's a herculean effort to stand up from crouching or to pick up my arms right now.
In other news, I lost my 300+ day streak on MFP because, well, priorities. Oh, well. I'm also legit scared to eat anything. I managed a tiny bit of a few things last night and everything tastes horrible. Since they don't know what caused my issue or how it happened, yeah. Working on getting over it. Taking all the pills is even scarier. Ah, well.
I'm very out of timeline and haven't been doing as much checking back in. Will do better. Matt, so sorry about your father. I hope you find peace. Chrissy, I hope your knee is okay! Ouch. Not missing anyone on purpose.
Going to try some chicken and dumping soup today, broth, potentially a black bean patty or piece of sausage. Soft is my goal right now and I can't just keep going broth and empty calories.
Cheers, everyone!

Did they give you any suggestions on how to increase protein but not irritate your system? Is that a discussion you can have with your bariatric program?

The hospital did not give good suggestions. Officially, the release nurse said to go back to my previous diet progression and to work my way up if I was having trouble. I've already called and am waiting for the call back but my bet is the dietician will say the same thing.
Some of the problem is absolutely in my head right now. Dense protein was about the first thing that started causing pain, so now I associate it with issues. Even the yogurt and protein shakes hurt, so I'm partly afraid to do it. I can't eat much right now (I'm two hours into this bowl of soup and it's still half full), and I've been drastically warned about chewing well and such.
I know what I'm supposed to do, just think it's going to be a few steps to get there. Quicker is better. I got some plain Greek yogurt and I'll try that since it has no added sugars or alcohols. Yeah, I'm just scared.

I would have been really ticked off about the nurse bringing up the bariatric diet. I remember when a friend of mine told a committee that we were both on that I was missing some meeting because I was having surgery. Someone asked her what kind of surgery, and she told them. I was livid! I was seriously thinking of dumping her as a friend. Took me a few days to get over that. And a nurse, of all people, should know better than that.

Yeah, I was miffed. I'd given them my room number and they literally just walked in. No one stopped or questioned them. So here I am with my boss and two coworkers...the guy being an RN, would have thought he would know to ask or at least something. Guess you kept your friend, though!
