The Amish tool shop was sweet. We got to talk with the young guy who owns it for a while. He seemed lonely. I read about the place on someone's blog, but the place has no social media presence, no Facebook, website, nothing. It's entirely word of mouth. So I think he gets very little traffic.

Enjoy the Guards game tonight! Let me know if you need other recommendations of things to do around Cleveland! I wish I was more active on this board, I would have planned a meet up for sure.

It looks like it is going to be a nice day and evening to be outside.

Have Fun!

Thanks, but Cleveland will be hit and run for us. We'll get there just in time for the game, stay the night at a hotel across the street, and head toward home early.

My problem with geometry is not the spatial aspect of it (although I am very much spatially challenged). I get that the actual geometry is useful but that when you are proving a theorem, you have to do each step of the proof in order, exactly -- and why does that matter, as long as you get the correct result? It's stupid. it's not efficient. It's archaic and needs to be updated. (And given how many years it's been since I took geometry, maybe it has been, lol)

I loved Calculus - LOVED it - it was my favorite course in college. It almost prompted me to change my major to math. Almost. Part of it was the professor - he was hilarious. An old codger who rarely got up off his chair - he'd just crank his body around to write on the chalkboard. He often gave sarcastic answers to people's stupid questions. I'm sure half the class hated him because of it - but some people really did ask eye-rollingly clueless questions (e.g., "what does the "C" mean next to that angle?"), and I thought his responses, given out of sheer frustration, were really funny. "It's the angle's name. You can call it "Charlie" instead if you want to"). I couldn't stand geometry. Algebra was OK. But calc was great.

Morning all. Happy Cinco De Mayo! I hope you all have tacos and margs in your future.

My classes were good yesterday and I learned a lot. Funny though--I have not actually touched or decorated a cookie since we left on Monday morning! Today should include some decorating and I am excited!

Today is a full day of classes and events, then we head straight over to Cleveland to check into a new room before we head over to the Guardians baseball game. Tomorrow we take off in the morning for the trip home, but we'll break it up along the way and see another ball game in Syracuse :)

QOTD: I remember an epic casserole fail I did once. First, I forgot to squeeze out the water from the boiled squash before I baked it. I took it out of the oven after a few minutes to drain it (saved!). But then I realized that I forgot to add the caramelized onions. Took it out again to add them. Apparently I was on auto-pilot and I'd automatically turned off the oven when I took it out that last time and when the timer went off 45 minutes later it was in a cold oven. Soooo, I turned on the oven, put it back in and this time--no timer! 4 hours later I smelled it burning. Haha, I feel like there may have been more **** ups in there, but it was a total disaster.

I keep getting hit with really weird bouts of nausea. I woke up okay and now I am feeling badly again. Hope it's just a touch of dehydration. I will drink a few waters and hopefully I'll bounce right back.

Yesterday's food:

  • Breakfast - the awful awful Bob Evans eggs and sausage
  • Lunch - Quest Bar
  • Snacks - about 10 goldfish crackers & one mini bag of Pirate Booty
  • Dinner - I was so so so so tired and nauseous again. We went to Texas Roadhouse and I will literally too tired to chew. I had about 10 bites of the chili, 2 French fries, and one green bean, lol. I even ordered a margarita and only managed about 4 sips.

I'll have to figure out pics from this week another time and share them later.

I hope it's just dehydration and you're not coming down with something. I've been to plenty of cons (although not the cookie kind) and you can forget to drink pretty easily in all the activity.
