Good morning Menu Friends-

The mystery movie last night was Hypnotic with Ben Affleck. It was really good with lots of twists and turns in the plot line. I would recommend this one to see. If not in the theater, then on streaming when it comes out. Today is in office work with a couple of meetings. Nothing else to really report on that front.

QOTD: I have very little patience with someone complaining or being negative. Especially my son who tends to get on a roll and goes on and on. He is at the stage of life where he knows everything, won't ask for help or even try to solve an issue because "he knows that he will be told", and is worried about looking stupid or weak, etc. Ugh. The other night I raised my voice "to be heard" over his nonsense as I was trying to help steer him toward a positive course of action, which he kept on grousing about. Which of course only made things worse as then DH got into the "discussion" with his version of complaining and negativity. So my bad habit is raising my voice to be heard.

OK I got no kids so who am I to say right? I would tell DH to F-off. It was your teaching moment. If he had nothing good to add to the conversation, why did he open his mouth. I like your small and mighty it is the only way to get the teachables taught.

Yeah, DH and DS are a lot alike in personality. It is funny as DH has gotten older, he takes things more personally than he should. The conversation was about DS grades in his weightlifting class (a F-go figure since he lifts weights at home) and him needing to talk with his teacher about getting the grade to a passing one so he can graduate in June. Anyway, after DH stormed off, I was able to have a conversation with DS in a reasonable manner about the grade and solutions he needs to take.

I am more of a fan of Ben Affleck as a director than an actor, but that trailer looked interesting.

He did a good job acting in the film. He is a good director and I like some of those films.

Good afternoon. Busy day for me. Kind off. I'll need to stay longer at work today because I came in late (I had a doc appointment- Botox). Plus I skipped going to the office yesterday. I worked some at home but not enough.

My team at the office are doing great so at least that's great.

I skipped work because I got a huge fever blister on the bottom lip. I haven't have them for over 20 years so that was a huge surprise. Very very painful. Yesterday my whole face was very sensitive. UGH. My eyes were watering, the whole "stupid virus outbreak". Immune system plus self-induced stress... I'm stressing too much.

QOTD - do have a bad habit you'd like to change? Procrastination. I'm horrible with that. I'm getting better, but still. And hoarding - books, meds, supplements, personal items... and food.

With Food - I found ways to give away foods to people who can benefit (i.e. one f my employee - a immigrant, single mother of 3, very hard worker, got seriously sick and she had to take 3 weeks off. legally as a company we could only help her so much without creating a precedent. So I decided get her some food (Costco- I can get stuff at a really good price) and see what my pantry items I can get rid off. (rice, extra pasta, jar of sauces, etc.) When i started eating keto, only Keith eats the starches, and as we know - Costco packages are huge. I can split multi box of pasta into 2 really good portions. Basic items in Costco are very reasonable.

PS: we have FB groups that provide free items and people are allowed to ask for things like i.e. food, some specific items they may need ... I often do that or donate food for things like Thanksgiving or Christmas (another local group). I don't donate money to charities . I rather donate to groups that I know (believe) the recipients get 100% of the donated money/items.

as for today menu:

coffee and more coffee

L: ugh.. I have a few items I can eat.. but with a painful bottom lip - it's hard... I drink my liquids through the straw (yes, coffee also)

D: - will see...

PS: my carb detox went well during 1/2 day Sunday and Monday... I had some carbs on Saturday and Sunday Morning - but they are out of my system... I "gained" 3 lbs, but that is slowly going away (water weight due to carbs loading). I blame my carbs consumption on the fever blister. "The virus made me do it." That's my line and I'm sticking to it.

Your immune system sure seems to be protesting, ouch! It's wild that something you haven't had issues with in decades would pop back up.

Congrats on the carb detoxing!

Sunday night I had an awful fall on my stairs. Bruised knee, twisted ankle, fat lip and bruised and cut elbow. Plus just general soreness all over. With my elbow I wasn't even sure I could wash my hair, but I did and it is getting better today. I took yesterday off since I didn't think I could sit at my desk all day. This is the time I miss ibuprofen, I'm not even sure if that would help. Just time.

On Saturday I bought a ceiling fan for my bedroom and got it installed, it was a pain but now I have air movement and should be cooler during the hot weather.

I have a recommendation for Grim. "The Battered *******s of Baseball" on Netflix. It's about the Portland Mavericks the only independent baseball team in the Pacific Coast League during the 70's. I had forgotten all about them, and I lived here then. It's fun to see and remember that baseball is supposed to be fun!

Have a great day everyone!
