Good morning all. We had a lot of rain yesterday, and things are really growing outside. Leaves on trees aren't quite out, but should be any day. I'll need to mow the grass when it's dry. Then it's weeding time (yuck). We'd normally plant some annuals in the patio containers next weekend, but we'll wait until the following weekend when we get back from our trip.

QOTD: I eat stuff from cans only a few times per year. If I was doomsday prepping it might be Spam, beans, or tuna fish. Canned chicken is blech. If I was a true pepper, I'd hoard potatoes for planting. You can get 20 to 30 tons of potatoes per acre, and they use less water to grow than any other food crop.

We've had to mow once already...well my mom did. We haven't had much rain at all or else it'd be more frequent.

I mowed once last Thursday, but it was only growing in patches. It's pretty full now.

Clearly you advised on The Martian, dropping all that potato knowledge!

The movie adaptation was one of the best, wasn't it?

It's one of those movies that I end up stopping and watching some of it whenever I see it's on.

I enjoyed the follow-up books, but not as much as the original. I found Artemis very similar to Heinlein's The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. Which is a compliment.

I love his short story Meeting Sarah.

Pigs are always good. They were always just turned loose, found their own food, and rounded up when it was time to eat them. Corn was pretty easy too. Plant beans around the base of your corn, and you won't have to weed.

I prefer canned corned beef more than spam. And my cats like that also...
