That sounds like a fun train trip! It a shame how few passenger trains we have and utilize here compared to Europe. Hope the planning goes smoothly.

The Rocky Mountaineer? I don't know anyone who has taken it but it sounds so fun. I think you get an overnight at Glennwood Hot Springs Lodge too which is a great place, very old school but the hot springs pool is lovely.

You are right. It is the Rocky Mountaineer and does have overnight at Glenwood Springs. I have thought about it for years and just decided to do it. So happy to hear that it is a great place to stay. I think my next adventurer might be a Nile River cruise to see the pyramids and Egypt.

If you don't want to hit the giant pool with everyone else, you can walk over to Ironton Speings and it's nice as well. Ironton has lots of small hot spring pools at different temperatures which is super nice

My friend and I are both going to be 75 and both worried about there being much walking. When the tour asked if we wanted to walk from the train station to the hotel or take the bus we both said bus. We are just going to see how we feel, but if we are up to walking will do that.

A few years ago, I enjoyed a brisk five mile walk, now I tire quickly and worry about falling. It is so strange how your strength and body can change. She had a hip replacement last year and is doing better than before that. We will check out Ironton Springs if we both are up to a walk. Thanks for letting us know.

I used to work in Maryland all week and sometimes go to NYC for meetings. I would take the AmTrak instead of flying or driving and loved the comfort of the train.

It's a pretty stroll from the station to the hotel, over a bridge (they have an elevator from the ground level up) but definitely bus if that lets you explore more! There are also some great little restaurants right down by the station. Uber is there too as an option!

I was at Glennwood Springs back in the early 70s. Loved it!

Good morning Mel and weekend menuers,

Mel, I'm sorry you had another bad night. I hope the pain pump starts working better and can at least take the edge off.

QOTD- I'll look at flights again for the OH conference. Directs to LA on Allegient are super cheap. Then, transportation since I won't be renting a car. Also need to send my passport info to the Galapagos folks and check again on flights to get down there in December. Will also follow up on the medical leave paperwork since I'm officially out. I'll call my PCP tomorrow to see when they want me back. I've also got to call the oral surgeon this week. I got a check in the mail and while a refund is great, I want to know why.

Today I couldn't sleep and went to Walmart this morning. I'm in super slo-mo and can't fully extend my arms but it feels important to keep moving as much as I can tolerate. I'll be doing a few things here today as much as possible.

I've been researching GI things and buying a few low FODMAP foods to keep experimenting with what my body is reacting to. It still feels like things are getting stuck but it can't hurt to try other methodologies.

Accountability- Yeah, I've been eating peanut butter straight from the jar because calories. I don't even feel bad about it but accountability for sure. I also made a can of Bar Harbor Foods New England clam chowder last night, added extra Fairlife milk to thin it out and ate it over about an hour. IF is out the window since I need the whole day to get things in. And Dr. Google says there's a possibility IF could make reflux worse.

Menu - blueberries, seaweed, several spoons of peanut butter, half a green banana, rolled turkey/cheddar/hummus wraps, maybe eggs, maybe protein drinks. I'm kind of scared to drink one.

Have a happy Sunday, folks!

More than a small spoonful of peanut butter gives me horrible heartburn even and i know it has for others too. You may want to take it easy. Curious as to why you are you scared to drink a protein drink?
