I picked up another ham from the Easter sales. You can never have too many. And they last. I think this one has a use by date in late June.

Good morning.

Qotd: I grew up in Poland, in a middle size city, but we were running around the streets as kids, until lights came on. We were walking to school every day, including for me first few years in college in Warsaw, because I lived close to the university. Last few years I moved with mu BFF and had to get the bus.

BTW: today is Polish Holiday. Every year I remind Keith about it, and every year he very sternly declines to participate. To be my object to pour the water on him. He he he.

The way he looks at me and says "No, absolutely not" makes me think he is serious. Lol.

When living in Polandas a young perdon , it was close to impossible to avoid being soaked that day by people you know or total strangers. And we had to go to church. Ugh.

But even older people were not spared. Keith informed me this year that he is not planning to be in Poland for Easter. Lol.

Smigus-dyngus

Smigus-dyngus[a] (Polish pronunciation: [smigus ?d?n?us]) is a formerly pagan and now a Roman Catholic celebration held on Easter Monday across Central Europe, and in small parts of Eastern and Southern Europe. The tradition is widely associated with Poland and is observed by Polish Diaspora communities, particularly among Polish Americans who call it Dyngus Day. Soaking a Polish girl on smigus-dyngus Dyngus in Wilamowice, southern Poland, where the men wander around the town in colourful handmade costumes in search of a woman to soak

Traditionally, boys throw water over girls and spank them with ***** willow[1] branches (in some regions) on Easter Monday. This is accompanied by a number of other rituals, such as making verse declarations and holding door-to-door processions, in some regions involving boys dressed as bears or other creatures. The origins of the celebration are uncertain, but it may date to pagan times before 1000 AD; it is described in writing as early as the 15th century. It continues to be observed throughout Central Europe and also in the United States, where certain patriotic American elements have been added to the traditional Polish ones.

Yesterday was a relaxing day. Kind off normal Sunday. Keith mentioned movie - and "funny" was in the description "Dangeons and Dragons" so we went to see it. Great entertainment. Good cast, funny action story.

Then we got home, I warmed up a dinner and we watched a few a episodes of Mandalorian. We waited because I hate watching just one episode and stop. We watch at least 2 episodes at a time. Often 3 if it's not too late.

Today I have a PM doc appointment, and if he is there I'll ask for some trigger point injections. My sciatica is bothering me and some days I want to take a knife and cut the nerve out. I won't do it, but ...ugh.

Today eats: (IF until 3 or later)

Coffee, tea, liquids..

LL: salad with brisket or chicken

D: TBD.

Food: there is this great tasting keto-paleo type soup I got at Costco, Kevin's Coconut chicken. Nice and creamy, I typically add shredded chicken to it, some avocado slices and a few leaves of basil. It wonderful. If you run into it - get it. I wo t have it today because I have acupuncture tomorrow and...any that type - asian - spicy food can give me gas. So I won't risk it a day because acupuncture. Almost always I get super relaxed on the table- and sometimes fall asleep.

And can you believe Keith doesn't want a part of it? It must have to do something with my face when I ask him if he wants t participate... when I'm "up to no good" it shows... I can't hide it... He knows THAT face I make...

BTW: his nephews had faces like that on my second visit to his sister house as they were showing me a beautiful albino python (or boa). It was app 6 ft long and absolutely beautiful. Can you imagine their face when I looked and took a big breath and exclaimed "it's beautiful, can I handle it?" Their shock and disappointment made everyone laughing... That was the last time they tried to shock me...

Wow, had never heard of this holiday! Amazing what we don't know about cultures and history. And this one has been around a long time. Thank you for sharing. Feels like I know more about Indian holidays than anything, these days!

We celebrate Dyngus Day in Cleveland, but I have never heard of the pouring the water on people. Our celebration is mostly polish foods and music and a parade.

Hello to everyone else! Its been a while since I have checked in here. Always happy to see everyone still posting.

Happy Spring to all!

Eileen
