Half my visitors like to bring stuff with them. I'm not much for aesthetics or decorating, whereas my mom always wanted to be an interior decorator. Their first visit when this house was new to me brought a new shower curtain, bathroom rug and a futon I used to use when I stayed with them. It's now the bed for my second bedroom, which would probably still be empty, otherwise.

Those are the most amusing Peeps I've seen in years. Ha.

Hello all and Happy Easter

I used to love Twitter, not loving the Musk owner version but it's still great for politics and sport and I do still tweet.

QOTD: I have never posted on Facebook but I do have an account, I have never used Tik Tok and I never let anyone check me in anywhere lol I do find the Insta/fb/Tik Tok world a bit fake, I get why though.

Food: my new stomach did not enjoy some deli chicken I had, didn't bring it up but boy it must have been a close call. Not sure if it was the chicken or if I ate too quickly. Was quite the relief when the stomach got over it! Rest of my food is pretty standard today.

Happy Easter to all. In Australia we get Good Friday and Easter Monday off as Public Holidays (as a replacement day for Sunday). How does it work in the US? Same way?

Good Friday and Easter are not nationally recognized holidays so no holiday here, but some companies/organizations/schools will grant it -- I think Good Friday is a bit more common than easter monday. in the US many companies don't even take all the national holidays, so it's very hodgepodge.

Wow that is amazing! US is so much more religious and god fearing than Australia so it surprises me for some reason.

I am not religious but appreciate the days off haha

We're not, we're a heathen nation with some really devoted outliers. There's just so many of us that even the outliers are a huge population!

Having been raised catholic, I can definitely say the standard American catholic put the "cafeteria" in cafeteria Catholic, lol.

I think one of the more interesting things is how fragmented US religious beleifs are -- I think it's why so many of the cults start here.

yea - it varies according to companies since they're not legal holidays. I don't ever remember having Easter Monday off. I worked for the state 35-ish years. Years ago we used to get Good Friday off, until the state was sued (state/church separation issue). After that, they just gave us a "floating holiday" for it, meaning we got an extra eight hours of holiday per year that we could take at any time.

I like a floating holiday. I also like mental health days for sick days. There are some days you just can't face work.

Good Friday and Easter are not part of our national holidays that we get off. Anymore, it is only the government employees who get the good holidays off. Everyone else has been pretty much chiseled down to New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Do all the other Americans agree on those are the big holidays that most companies recognize?
