Question For Hot Sauce Lovers - Were You Able To Handle Hot Sauce In The Solid...
Greetings,
I am sure this will be a stupid question to many, but I was just curious for hot sauce enthusiasts like me who have like 8 bottles of different sauces in the house - were you able to still handle hot sauce once returning to the solid food/forever phase be it a bypass or sleeve?
Or does your stomach no longer tolerate it?
I am having my sleeve surgery in two weeks and I am just kind of worried about finding out what foods/sauces I can't eat anymore even in moderation. I have loved hot sauce (which many have zero calories) forever, so this would hurt.
I would appreciate any feedback for those that tried reintroducing hot sauce or any spicy foods for that matter back into their diet.
Thanks!

Yes, I can and do eat and enjoy spicy food after surgery. I keep a bottle of hot sauce in my lunch bag.
My clinic's major concerns with spicy foods were them potentially making you need to drink within 30 minutes of eating, which isn't a problem for me, or it potentially contributing to gerd, which is also not an issue for me. YMMV, though.

Nothing has changed in the amount of heat/spice I can tolerate before and after surgery. I only had to avoid it during the healing phases/food progressions.

I was told if you could tolerate it before surgery you can have it after. As Partlypollyanna mentioned, you need to be careful only during the healing process.

Thanks for the feedback. That is very encouraging. Especially from the member who said they STARTED eating hot sauce after the surgery.
Now I am curious what hot sauces you all enjoy.
Second question - won't start a new thread: how about carbonated drinks ala Diet Coke or whatever you enjoyed before - even in moderation?
