Yay for all the signs! Gary Oldman is not who I thought of as Jackson Lamb when I read the book but now that he's in the role, he's perfect. Such a great series.

When I borrowed the book it already had his picture on it so I read the book with him on my mind. I think he is spot on.
I saw a tweet: petition to not change the book covers to match the show characters.
I would sign that petition.

He reminds me of detective Cromoran Strike. I llike these English series because the main character is flawed, smart as a whip but flawed.

I love that your daughter brought the sweater back to see if it could be made into another one. It just strikes me...she likes your sweater and wants a new, homemade one! And knitting is a great skill that's on my list to learn someday. I took up basic crochet a long, long time ago, made a ton of scarves and dropped it because yarn wasn't cheap.

I learned to knit in elementary school, the nuns were insistent that we had to learn how to make scarves. I picked it up as an adult after seeing a couple of cute hat patterns when DD was young. After that I branched out and made more complicated things. I also learned to crochet by watching YouTube. It's the best thing to keep my hands busy and not go after food during down time.
And yes, yarn is expensive and getting more and more expensive. I just discovered that through fb market you can get yarn from the old ladies who have been hoarding them for real cheap.

I used to knit a lot. I have a few sweaters i made for myself. And a vest. I had a sweater, but it got old, so I reused the yearn to make a vest. The vest is over 35 years old. Still in a great condition.
