Last year, in the schools here, there were no snow days because all the schools were in the working remote model...this year they actually said they would take snow days vs the virtual because they found it was actually better for the kids mental health. My company has had virtual capability for 15 years or so and the only time you get a weather closure is if your house loses power but we do close the offices for weather as appropriate because there's always someone that will try to get in when the road conditions really don't support it.

Here, schools are not allowed to teach remotely for snow days. If it isn't in person, it doesn't count toward the 180 days they have to be in school.

Good morning QJB and menuers!

Glad you can salvage everything for the cookie class and it's been rescheduled. And those tacos do look delicious.

QOTD- Think it depends. I have a lot of low-level symptoms of things like congestion and sore throat. I blame being out in public and the office while not having a good immune system. With new, unknown stuff I can definitely become a worry wart (does this look normal?).

Office day today and daylight saving is still kicking my butt. Oh, and my filling at 8am. My first needle in the mouth but likely not the last. Eew. They insisted Friday that I'd be back to normal in a couple hours with no side effects. Since I go from there to Pi day events, I hope so. Happy Pi day!

Accountability- Two sea salt caramels. Rest of the box is going away today.

Exercise- Recumbent bike and stretching.

Menu - Low-carb clam chowder, ratio yogurt, Thai chicken and veggies, maybe red beans and proteins. All depends on my teeth. Protein shake this morning to kick off.

Have a good one!

The needle will feel like you are getting stuck with a needle but you'll be fine once the anesthetic wears off; they usually have to start with 3 shots for me and it usually still wears of in an hour or 90 minutes. Keeping your mouth open the whole time could give you a bit of a headache so take some Tylenol with you and you'll be fine.

I hate having a numb mouth. Seems like it stays numb for longer than 90 minutes. I want to be numb for the drilling but want it gone immediately after the procedure.

It was one needle but not sure how many times they stuck me since they numbed it beforehand. Took at least 30 seconds to finish the injection, though. The rest was just biding my time and letting them work! Glad it's done. Needles are still horrible.

Thanks! As well as can be, I'd say. Ended up with two filling when he went in to clean and it went deeper. Two for one, I guess? Saves a visit!

I don't like needles at all. That being said, I wasn't given local anesthesia for my last dental procedure at a volunteer clinic. It was not fun.

Do you use a recipe for the low carb clam chowder? If not, is this a specific brand?

Omg. I can't imagine that in this type of situation. He did look at it and say it was on the edge of not "needing" anesthetic. I volunteered, especially since this was the first time. I got numbing gel, then the anesthetic. Didn't feel a thing after. Granted, the whole left half of my face was numb until 1pm but I'll take that over the alternative for this first experience.

Yep, recipes. I research a ton and use one or two for a "base", then modify to fit my taste and what I have on hand. I do love Bar Harbor Foods clam chowder as a luxury but it is not low carb. This time it was:

https://peaceloveandlowcarb.com/crock-pot-clam-chowder/#tast y-recipes-12303-jump-target

I used reduced fat cream cheese, the rest of my mascarpone instead of heavy cream with a bit more stock to thin it out, 10 ounces of uncured turkey bacon, extra celery and extra clams. And tons of fresh-cracked black pepper. It's six meals, easily. This round was delicious. Would make again.
