I'm not saying you should deal with it. Not at all. I am sure you will find a resolution so that you can travel. I also agree she is being selfish if she feels you should not travel on her behalf. I am saying just make arrangements and tell her. Mom I am going on vacation. This is what is going to take place when I am gone. Do not get her involved in the details. Just do what you need to do and tell her how it is going to work. Do not give her a choice. Are you her POA?

oh OK - I understand now! Thanks for clearing that up. She has me listed as her POA, but it hasn't kicked in yet because she has to be declared incapacitated before that takes effect (or at least that was the way it worked with my father - I was the POA for him, too (they were divorce)). He lived in a different state, though, so laws may be different. Anyway, she does have some memory issues, but they're mild and probably more aged-related than anything else. So she's not to that level yet...

I hope you're able to go on your trip. I can relate to making sure a parent has care that they need while not being physically present. I hope you can find a viable solution for your mother while you are out of the country.

What kind of web stuff? I'm starting to look into setting up a site for my service work. Are you familiar with creating websites? If so, what did you use to create the site?

actually, someone else set up the Web site originally - I just add, delete, and modify the content. I went to a workshop on Dreamweaver once around 15 years ago (not even sure that's still in existence), so I learned about building Web sites (or at least the basics), but I've never actually done it - so I'm not sure I could do it without going to another workshop. I may have to learn, though, because we're currently using Wild Apricot software for our organization (it's a system for organizations - handles memberships, etc), whi*****ludes Web site hosting (as well as the ability to create a Web site), but it's gotten so expensive and our membership has declined enough that we're going to look at other options. So I may need to create a Web site over the summer....

Wrangling your family is no small feat. That's a fine line between preserving pride and dignity and that person truly being at risk if they don't have the support they need. I'm sorry it's a challenge with your mom. Fingers crossed for a compromise!

Good luck on figuring things with your mom care.
You are a good daughter. I don't make my own appointments before 9am (unless I'm desperate) so...I would have ask my mother (or sister) to change the dentist appointment to a more reasonable time.

Morning all!

We are into our final few weeks of Daylight Savings here! I don't mind winter though. March has been hotter than bloody summer weirdly enough but anyway.

QOTD: Funny, I was just accepted into the MBA program of my choice last week, so I'm stoked about that. Now to actually do it!

Food is my standard yogurt, shake, mince and a protein bar now added to up the protein intake.

Have a great day all.
