Happy Saturday! What's your plan for the day?

This is the kind of advice I need to give to my mentees; embrace your trickster goddess!

Good morning everyone -- strange Saturday so far, went to bed around 10, woke up ready to go at 12:30 so Good Morning and Good evening, lol.

My trainer last night kicked my butt, it was a tough workout and she just kept torturing me through it...and I just kept laughing because it's the only way to get through it! The worst were the bridges, she finally was "nice" and put an extra spring on the reformer to make it slightly easier but man, oh man. I am feeling it this morning. She also made some recommendations about my workout schedule that I need to give some thought to over the weekend.

I've got some light chores to do around the house, my endurance row, and then meeting a group of friends at the speakeasy we found for a ****tail, then dinner and we're seeing "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change"at one of the local performing arts centers. Will be a fun evening and this is a group that always leaves me laughing until my face hurts. We are really lucky that every little community around here has a good local theater troupe or two.

QOTD -- if you came with a warning label, what would it be? Mine would either be "laughs inappropriately under stress" or "may contain dangerous levels of sarcasm".

menu today is

coffee plus half and half X 3

skyr

cheddar and summer sausage

either a burger or the bison pot roast

not sure on the ****tail I will try, my go to is a sazerac, no simple syrup and they make a nice one but maybe I will try something new.

I hope everyone has a great Saturday!

Hello Jen and all!

Woke up anxious this morning and took some effort to let it go, weirdly, cleaning out a cupboard, our ensuite bathroom and the kitchen did the trick lol mental health management is a strange thing!!

Also had my first 'ignored my full cue' today and didn't love it (no issues, just slightly uncomfortable) knew I was full but continued! Lesson learned.

QOTD: love this question. Maybe 'loses focus when bored' lol

Food is standard fair. Enjoy Saturday!

I'm totally with you. When anxious or having a tough time, cleaning/tidying has a great impact. It's the routine of getting something in order that helps set your thoughts in order and calm your mind. Or so my therapist says. :)

Glad you didn't have horrible consequences to the extra bite. One of the big challenges for my surgery is Tetrising in the volume of food needed to hit my higher protein goals. They say only structured meals and snacks, but I can't finish the needed volume for what they want...so I eat a little every couple of hours in planned ways. Do you know what caused you to keep eating? That's always the fun part to tackle.

You're doing great!

Tetrising! Love that. What are your daily protein goals?

Hi! It does truly feel like Tetris when you add macros on top of it and the desire to eat more than just chicken breast. :)

For SADI, my clinic says between 80-100 grams of protein per day. My numbers have always been just below baseline during tests before surgery, probably due to my heavy preference for a mostly vegetarian diet that I've had to forcefully overcome.

Since surgery, I've adjusted up and am testing juuust at the baseline with an average of 90g per day, including much more animal protein now. So probably should bump goals to 100g and see where that lands numbers at my one year follow up. Still on the learning curve for sure.

I saw your response on surgery the other day and what they're planning for you as modifications! So exciting that you'll be getting an improved tool to help on this journey. :)

Thank you - I'm very excited and grateful for the opportunity!

The protein goal seem in line with what I'm told I'll need. The literature at my WLC still says 60-80g but my NUT says it needs to be much higher. I'm lucky if I get 60-80 everyday.

It sounds like protein Tetris is in your future, too! If I had to pick a drawback, it's probably that you really do have to eat regularly even when you're not hungry since it's such a job to get that protein in. Worth it, though!

It will get easier the further out from surgery you get. When I got down to 150 before, I was basically starving myself and had muscle wasting. I could not maintain that weight for the life of me. Now, I want to preserve all the muscle I have and build muscle lifting weights especially considering my age so it's high protein for life! We got this!

Yeah the cleaning is two fold! Gets things done and really clears the head!

The reason wasn't too deep I don't think, I got full earlier than I was used to (I'd been eating this size meal for 2 weeks), so I went with precedent instead of listening which was silly! I think in retrospect I ate too fast.

Enjoyment of the flavors is usually my downfall for one bit too many. Just want to experiit a little longer. What I should do is slow down the pace of eating to savior the flavors instead. Something to work on.
