Interesting rituals for the ceremony. I was wondering if this is an arranged marriage? I know they still have those even when the bride and groom are from America, but even more so if one is from India. We knew various Indians when we lived in LA area who had arranged marriages. I happy to hear you at least got some Indian food.

I think it's likely (I've been wondering about this, too). His family lives in Delhi, but he's had an IT job in Brooklyn for the last few years (the two of them are moving out to Seattle next week - he has a job out there now - I don't know if it's a transfer or a new job). At any rate, she was born and raised in the US, so her family has lived here for a long time (and she went to college here in Wisconsin and has been working here, too, so she's never lived in Brooklyn). I'm not sure how else they would have met, unless her parents grew up in Delhi and knew his parents from there? (well - that could be the case - because often the marriage is arranged by the parents. But some families use matchmakers - so it could have been that, too, and that would have probably been what happened if the parents didn't know each other). I kind of wanted to ask but didn't think it was appropriate. Maybe we'll be seated at the dinner table tomorrow with someone who knows her well and knows the situation. I know what they call "love marriages" are becoming more common in India, but they still do A LOT of arranged marriages.

Good morning ~ I remember laughing about Peru, MA as a kid, but Maine beats all! Really cute cookie. Yesterday was a great day. I am all set for surgery on April 10th with the exception of my pre admin appt at the hospital. My insurance is approved. The surgery will be to sleeve my pouch if it's only wide, or a resect if it is wide and long and a bypass distalization moving the connection further down the intestine for more malabsorption, but not as drastic as a DS. I'm feeling so hopeful, but realistic - it's not a magic wand I know and the loss is slow and small compared to 1st surgery. Today I have a half day if I can make it into work that is... All the schools closed due to potential rain/flooding but I'm not sure of the actual conditions yet... Even Hearst Castle is closed today. If all is well with the weather, after work I plan to meet DS for lunch and go to Costco - I'm down to 4 k-cups ya'll - it's dire!

QOTD - Many - including that flight! Mental illness + the Universe mostly but Jack the Ripper, Hoffa, JFK as some mentioned and yes, quicksand!! I always assume it would be in my life somehow but nope.

Accountability - chili for dinner, but it was healthy

b- coffee, quest bar

l- TBD - out with kiddo possibly - protein forward

d- leftover chili

s- jerky

Have a wonderful day

I think this is what people think of when we talk about the rain in CA

Good morning JB and Menu Friends! Happy Friday!

Evaluation and Raise detail this afternoon at 3:45 pm. I am not worried, just trying to ensure I manage expectations as I do not want to be let down if I am not realistic. I always factor that I am no longer at a Large company and with a smaller company need to ensure I am not above salary norms for the position and area. I was able to absorb the loss of a buyer position in my department, and with that change in budget have managed to improve the Purchasing metrics across the board. Savings, Decline in Purchasing related cancelled orders.

I had a 6 am Blood draw appointment this morning, 40 minutes from the house, so was out much earlier than normal, still arrived at work by 7.

QOTD - mine are simple...How much wood can a woodchuck really chuck? How many licks to the center of that damn tootsie pop. I need to know! LOL...

B - Protein Bar

S - 2 good yogurt

L - Tuna salad with a salad

AS - celery and laughing cow

D - Buffalo shrimp

E - Gym night

Stay healthy my friends.

I saw a tiktok video where someone took the time to do the science and figure out once and for all how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop. They calculated the weight of the lolly vs the tootsie roll, then weighed the whole thing. Then they took licks, continuing to weigh it, so they could calculate out how many licks. I forget the answer, but it was a lot :)
