The Arctic is warming very fast. Many of the people in Helsinki commented on how unusual this winter has been too -- too warm, less snow than usual, many "false" springs and we discussed how it's been colder with more snow than usual here too. Climate change is happening everywhere.

I was in high school when Silent Spring was published in 1962 and have watched the changes in the environment and the climate since then. I remember when it would snow in October and we would not see the ground again until spring thaw. Now we see very little snow here in Ohio and our summers are much warmer than they used to be. It is going on worldwide.

Did you see many Puffins. You know I love those little creatures. Bucket list to see one in person in their natural habitat.

Not in Finnish Lapland, it's too far inland but I have seen thousands of them at a time in Iceland...that's where you need to go:-). There's an island north of Iceland called Grimsy that we visited and it had 68 residents and about 10,000 birds, and at least half of those were puffins.

I love love love all your pics. You look amazing in the hat. What a trip! Between the igloo hotel and the northern lights and the sledding and the reindeer, it looked phenemonal. But selfishly I'm glad you're back!

Good morning all. Cocaine Bear was hysterical. Great cast. It did have a few bloody spots, if those kinds of things bother you.

QOTD: right now I'm listening to One Person, One Vote. It's a history of Gerrymandering in the US. It's pretty good, and pertinent.

I'm not a physicist, so I can't explain how an adult human being is able to maintain balance on something so small.
