What's on your (PHOTO) Friday Menu?

Beautiful picture! Glad the roads look good.
One of my favorite things about culture revolves around the differences in food. Shocking, I'm sure. I've heard people think Americans are crazy for PB&J. I think my Australian friend is nuts for his cheese and jam sandwiches...and I did give it a go. I agree with him cracking an egg on everything. My ex partner ate stinky tinned fish on bread, and they'd eat sprinkles or chocolate shavings on bread for lunch (Netherlands). Even more fun when comparing holiday food. Oh, and lampredotto(spelling) in Florence was a hard no-go.

As an Australian I must say cheese and jam sounds very weird to me haha
Cheese and Vegemite maybe haha

When we were down on the Great Ocean Road there was an amazing place we stayed called Chocolate Gannets(sp). There was a very comprehensive welcome basket including fruit, wine, chocolates, and individual little pats of vegemite. I guess it pays to provide the stuff for tourists to try. Try we did, and I'm in agreement with that friend that wafting the (preferably unopened) container of vegemite near the bread was just about enough. But hey, we tried it, because when in Rome!

Need an Australian to make you toast with butter and Vegemite! To die for! One of the things I currently miss I have to admit
Great Ocean Road is amazing, glad you enjoyed it

Must be the American in me on this one!
Vegemite was so, so salty. Kinda even reminiscent of how double salt licorice tastes but in a weird, yeasty way. I can't imagine putting butter on it would help (since most people use salted butter) but I'm happy to take your word on it! Butter in general is better anywhere but here, to start!

That's how my cousin made it for me. She said a light amount of vegemite was the way to go. It wasn't the worst thing but I did not have seconds, lol

So...
1)I can't stand PB&J. I used to gag when making it for my kids. The first time I made the sandwich DH was waking by, looks at me and says what are you doing? Uhm, making PB&J! But that's not the way to make it (I was putting both PB & Jam on the same slice and it was really hard to spread it). He had to teach me how to make a PB&J.
2) I take umbrage about cheese and jam. Have you ever had mascarpone (our version of cream cheese) on a piece of bread with some jam spread over it? It's heaven!!! That was my dad's favorite breakfast with his morning coffee.
3) chocolate over bread as a snack was our go to after school snack growing up. Or nutella.I think in France they call it Gouter. And people ask why I have such a sweet tooth.
4) I'm with you on Lampredotto. Could never stomach it.

The Nutella cafe sounds heavenly. I have told everybody, if I find out I have a terminal illness, my favorite way to go is filling up the bath tub with Nutella and eating my way to a sugar coma.
