What's on your Wednesday Menu?
Good morning, everybody!
So, when I said that I wanted to look younger, this pimple on my lower lip wasn't what I meant.
We had a good talk with my older son last night. We think that we have a plan that will allow him to graduate in May of 2024 with the major, concentration, and minor that he wanted and he also thinks that it is doable. The only problem will be if two classes are scheduled at the same time. Also, there was no mention of the RBSS.
The only down sides are that (1) he will stay in Colorado this summer and (2) since he has a full summer course load, he won't get the work experience of an internship. Maybe he can find a part time job or research assistant role through school.
Crossfit is winding down ahead of the 23.1 event announcement tomorrow night. The last few days we have been doing short quick workouts like last night.
5 rounds:
8 - 25 foot shuttle sprints
6 Burpee Box over jumps
So, enough to sweat, but nothing that is going to leave anybody sore this week. I will lift today, take tomorrow as a rest day and then do the 23.1 workout at Friday Night Lights. With much oversharing, no doubt.
During the Open our gym is available on Sunday afternoons which makes it easier to get everything in during the week. Afterwards it should be warm enough to use my garage gym.
Trish, I saw a house in Wisconsin on Cheap Old Houses that I am thinking about. Its on a river near Viroqua, which is the Driftless Region. Kind of want to see what our kids think.
QOTD: Right now it's crazy windy. Power outages, sirens, etc. In general, it's been a mild winter. The actual coldest weather was right at Christmas time. I have only had to wear sweatpants over my shorts once when heading out to the gym. That's how I measure hard vs. soft winter.
Breakfast: Egg Sandwich
Lunch: Chicken
Dinner: Hamburger
Happy Hour tonight but as you guys know its a completely different animal when Marilyn is around
Have a great day, all!

Battle of two bad teams last night Jim. Habs prevailed. Do you think the Hawks will trade Kane/Toews?

Kane was angry that the Rangers picked up Tarasenko because he wanted to be back with Panarin. He would prefer to stay in Chicago but the team won't be competitive while he is still playing (even if it's 5-7 years).
I am not sure Toews is tradable even with 50 percent retained salary.
On Friday I will post a picture that you and Jodee will recognize.

I'm repping the formerly Mighty Blackhawks today. I can't envision another team taking a flyer on Toews even for a piece of his salary. Recent Hawks news of Bobby Hull passing made me sad to think about his tarnished legacy.

Yes, the wind is nuts. It's so warm but I have had my hood up to shield me from the wind. Enjoy a lively Happy hour.

summer school vs internship is a hard call. I was able to get my bachelor's degree in three years (which was less time than it took me to do my second master's!) because I went to summer school every summer. I know some people take easy classes in the summer, but I usually took the harder ones (like sciences) so I could focus on them specifically without being distracted by other classes. Job market is really good now, which is one advantage of finishing up the degree sooner - but then, engineering is a pretty high demand field ANYWAY, so it might not matter if it takes longer. Although then there's some tuition savings, maybe...
on the other hand, an internship is a great thing to have. Sometimes those turn into permanent jobs - and even when they don't, it's great experience to have under your belt and may give him a leg up when he starts searching for jobs.
so - I don't know. Hard call, as I said above...
forgot to comment on Viroqua. I've actually never been there - although I think a lot of people vacation there. I'll see what I can find out about it. I know it's kind of far from things, though - about two hours from Madison and Rochester (MN), maybe an hour or so from LaCrosse. I'll read up on it..
It's a big fly fishing area. To date no children have chimed into the family text with their opinions.
