What's on your Monday Menu?

Good morning ~ Been there on the too tired to sleep - it doesn't make sense. I wish you all the naps! The game was a good one - that is really all I ask and it did not disappoint! Some fun commercials and Rhianna was pretty cool too. I'm off today for a presidents day - can't remember which one, lol. Next Monday too. I have a consult w/gastro Dr this afternoon that was rescheduled due to those terrible storms we had last month. I just want this colonoscopy scheduled and over with already. Otherwise, chill day.
QOTD - My son came over and we all watched every minute - it was a great game/show!
Accountability - all the cheese puffs and a hot dog bun
B- all the coffee, my egg bites
l - tuna and chopped salad
d- chicken meatballs, marinara and fresh mozz
s- tomatoes
Have a great day!

Mornin' All!
I have my book discussion group later this morning and that appt with the dermatologist later this afternoon so she can look at this spot on my neck that has all but disappeared over the weekend. Figures. Although I think it's too late to cancel the appt. But maybe it's fine for her to check it out anyway since it'd be hanging around for at least six months. Someone in my book group wants to start a second documentary film group (or perhaps a "non-Hollywood" film group that would feature foreign, indie, and documentary films) because I've had a wait list for over a year for my original documentary film group. I contacted the people on the list last week, and all but one are still interested. This woman is on it. I really don't have time to pull it off this semester, but she said she could take the lead if we do it. So she wants to discuss it today after the book group meeting. Depending on how long this goes, i may go to a 1:00 Aqua Zumba class before my dermatology appt. Otherwise, I need to do something - either walk or head to the gym.
QOTD: here are my cats watching the Super Bowl with DH. They were more excited about it than I was, if that tells you anything. I was in the other room reading, watching a short documentary and working on my latest mind/word game distraction, "redactle".
B: protein oatmeal topped with L&F creme brulee yogurt, coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake
L: chicken salad
AS: protein muffin
D: pulled pork
have a great day, everyone!

I live in a world of disappearing skin stuff myself. I've gotten into the habit of taking pictures of things that pop up so I have history to share with whichever doctor. It's helped to establish history a couple of times. Hope your appointment went well!

Good morning everyone. I had such a wonderful weekend. The weather was great, my kids were home and we celebrated my son's 24th birthday. Lots of great talks and lots of laughs. I always feel so emotional when my kids leave. They are both doing amazing things and I could not be more proud of them.
QOTD- I started to watch a movie on Netflix and fell asleep on the couch in the family room. No football for me.
I need to go to work today and I am lacking motivation. I am feeling really burned out and overwhelmed. I run a non profit meal site for seniors and everyone keeps dying or moving away. I cannot do everything.
Food plan for today-
Protein shake with cold brew
2 boiled eggs
Shredded chicken with hot sauce
Halibut, asparagus
Have a great day everyone.

Is there anyone that can fill in so you can take a few days for a mental health break?

Sounds like you had some great family moments this weekend. Thank you for the work you do. It's hard but I'm sure the seniors you work with deeply appreciate it.

Good Morning Queen JB and Menuers,
How did I know your class would be a huge success. I would like to see the Nailed it and failed it photos.
My weekend was nice, but I cannot say it was conducive to someone who needs to lose 20lbs. Maybe the streak of nice weather will get me out exercising.
QOTD: I ate a bag of Chili lime Chicharrons and a tub of Hell of a good cheddar jalapeno dip and passed out by half time.
Accountability: None. I ate way too many carbs, drank too much alcohol at bingo on Saturday and did not exercise at all.
TSS: 5 years 2 month 2 days 163.2 Lowest (129.4)
B: Coffee with SF chocolate caramel Coffee Mate
MS: Light and Fit toasted marshmallow Greek yogurt and berries.

Good morning everybody!
We had a bit of a parenting dilemma this weekend.
Those of you with teenage or young adult boys know that contact can be infrequent. So even a text can be a rare and welcome treat.
Until. "Mom, have you seen the blue CSM sweatshirt that I got in High School?"
Oh, no. The ratty blue sweatshirt. Hereinafter, "the RBSS" or simply "RBSS".
DS is now a Junior in College. He acquired the RBSS when he was a Junior in High School. That's about One Thousand Days if you exclude summer. Assume, conservatively, that he wore the RBSS 30% of those days - so 300 wears at least. At least.
That's a lot of videogaming and differential equation problem sets, a lot of walking around campus on surprisingly sweaty warm days, a lot of overheated college halls. A lot of food spilled on it.
Now Marilyn does not go into the boys rooms and pull their laundry for washing. But she does use moral suasion and the bully pulpit to try and get the boys to do their laundry (defined as putting their clothes at least in the hallway so that she can do the rest) on a semi-regular basis. So its fair to say that the RBSS saw the inside of a washing machine fairly often during its 2019 and early 2020 heyday.
In fact, I don't think that it is a stretch to say that it was laundered fairly frequently pre-COVID. What has happened for the subsequent 250 wears, I cannot vouch for. Except to say two things: first, it has to be washed when he comes home for holidays and breaks, and two, in recent years, Marilyn has begun to be vocally creeped out by the RBSS.
I have a friend who was telling me that he couldn't find his favorite sweatshirt. He looked all around his house and finally gave up. Six months later his daughter asked him to drive her and a friend to a high school event. To his surprise, the friend came out of her family's house wearing the sweatshirt that he had been long searching for. Daughter had swiped it from Dad and and Friend had borrowed it from Daughter.
Girls of a certain age pilfer sweatshirts. It's what they do. But it would be a strange young woman indeed, who would choose to wear the RBSS. So a desire for semi-normal grandchildren is added motivation for Marilyn to pitch the RBSS into the trash.
All of which brings us to Occam's razor. When faced with alternatives, the simplest choice is usually correct. Has the RBSS somehow gotten lost in a small college apartment? Is it stuck in our non-existent laundry pile? trapped in the lint filter? Or did Marilyn throw it away and hope that nobody would notice during the holiday glow?
Marilyn's view, of course, is that somebody should use Occam's Razor to shave both boy's scraggly end of semester beards.
So Marilyn's choice: tell DS that she threw away the RBSS and risk his disappointment, or don't tell him and risk further disappointment down the road over her lack of transparency. Like Dad's the world round, I have maintained a state of plausible deniability through a combination of: studied incompetence, sheer dumb luck, and my normal semi-fugue state interrupted only by brief periods of lucidity.
For now, she has relied on a series of misdirections ("did you look on the coat hooks behind your bedroom door?"), and bribes (Crumble Cookies in the mail). We will see where it goes next.
QOTD: We actually got a surprise invite from a couple of neighbors for a party. After a little bit of trying to figure out where the knocking was coming from, they came to the door and invited us. They had Chipotle and a nice pie. It was good to see everybody during the winter months.
Breakfast: Egg Sandwich
Lunch: Roast beef in a wrap
Dinner: Going out for valentines to a Greek place. Probably lamb
Have a great day, all!
