What's on your Monday Menu?

Good Morning and Happy Monday! I hope you all slept better than this meme. My mind was racing, so I hope I can actually accomplish some to-dos today.
I had a great time teaching the class yesterday but I wore crappy (but fashionable!) sneakers and raced around on concrete floors for a few hours so I woke up feeling very old today!
QOTD: What's your go-to cure for hiccups? I still get RNY related hiccups all the time. If I drink even a sip of liquid within an hour of eating, my body goes into hiccup mode. I hate it. I usually try holding my breath, but I don't think its actually effective.
B: egg bite
S: almonds and babybel
L: turkey meatballs
D: veggie burger w/cheese

Good morning QJB and menuers,
That meme is my brain every night! And just as I was drifting off again half an hour ago, the coyotes got started. Boo.my brain is also telling me that I forgot to pay for surgery and it's going to be canceled. Something I need to call about today.
Comfy shoes are great unless you have to pay for them later.
QOTD- Either measured breathing or holding breath. Most often the first, though I don't get hiccups much these days.
Got to head in to the office today. I'll be masking this week since I'm not sure if my hospital still tests for covid prior to surgery. They did in July. It's probably a moot point, though, since I'm getting braces Wednesday.
Today feels like I need a vacation to recover from going back to work...and I haven't even gone back yet!
Accountability- Detoxing from carbs. No more beignets and all. Ugh.
Exercise- Walking at lunch at the office.
Menu - Ratio yogurt, chicken tenderloins with parmesan and a small serving of risotto, probably not much else. Small diet cuts leading into Friday even though this is nothing like WLS prep.
Hope you all have a great Monday!

It's funny. I'm waffling more about getting braces than I did for WLS! I never went through buyer's remorse there. I currently have no pain or sensitivity with my teeth so I'm stuck in that "what am I about to do to myself " phase.
And thanks for the note. Forgot to ask the nurse today. She asked about sick symptoms. The clinic says they don't think they test anymore but guess I get to find out Friday! Or call back!

What were your favorite parts of the trip? What successes did you have when avoiding all the delicious food that's horrible for you?

Every time I've been to New Orleans, it's been kind of a different trip depending who I went with and the time in my life. This time through there was a lot more learning to be had from natives about the history and cultures that shaped the city over time. I'm a nerd for learning, so that's something I'm fully on board with. Tons of sentences that started with, "I was today years old when I learned...".
I'm glad we seemed to land in the calm before the storm of Mardi Gras, as it were. There was a lot going on but not too many people, yet. The older I get, the more I avoid crowds.
As for food...I did all the research on places within our walking radius, so I had a great idea of what was on the menus before setting foot in any place. I nailed down everything before even entering the restaurant. It probably helps that I'm trying to be kind to my gallbladder and have some low-level constant pain to remind me to behave. I still ate the equivalent of a couple beignets over the 3.5 days, so I wasn't perfect by any means. I got to try versions of everything I'd have wanted prepared in mostly okay ways. Being a foodie, it felt like a win! As JB reminded me a couple of months ago, the planning part is an important component for me to succeed.
I'll need to go back...much more exploring to be done!

I like to pre-plan my meals out also. IF possible, I will look at the restaurant's menu online before going. Great job on planning ahead. It is important to still be able to enjoy some of the foods you would normally avoid while on vacation.

I have heard that kidney stones are some of the most painful things. One friend said it was worst than childbirth! Hope you are on the mend!

Oh - hope you're okay! And thanks for letting me know. I should really call the hospital again and ask to be sure!
