In the organization I volunteer for we had to turn volunteers away we had so many but, had to go and shop 3 times for more toys to keep up with the demand. Sometimes the donation is a better way of helping.

The Standard Chemical Company operated a Radium refining mill from 1911 to 1922 in Canonsburg, PA. From 1930 to 1942, the company purified Uranium ore. The mill was in Pennsylvania instead of Colorado (which would have been closer to the mines that produced the carbonite) because the processing of the ore required huge quantities of chemicals; these chemicals were available in Pennsylvania. This mineral resembles yellow sandstone; the yellow color caused by uranium. The ore contained such a small amount of radium that took up to 500 tons of ore to produce a single gram of radium. Up until 1921, a total of 120 grams of radium (valued at $14,400,000) covered the world's supply of this precious mineral; and of this amount the Standard Chemical Company had produced 72 grams, valued at $8,640,000. The Canonsburg plant produced more radium in a year than all of the rest of the radium plants in the world combined.
The byproduct of this process was radioactive Sand that we played in as Children. I am sure I have eaten it at some time in my life. I wish I could say I was joking but this is all true. So, know you all know why I may be a little more off than most. Obesity and cancer run rapid in people my age. They never took responsibility for any of it. here is an article if you want to see more. And yes, we have Canonsburg Pottery dishes still to this day. I think it was in the late 70's or early 80's when they finally buried it and put a mound of dirt on top, but it is still there.

Sorry for the rant but I got more.
What a crazy weekend. Lost more money than I wanted at the casino Friday so went to the Mexican restaurant to devour to many chips and salsa. I did get Fajitas with no shells, but does it really count after a half basket of chips. I did wake up and elliptical on Saturday morning before Mom duty. I used the hot tub also Saturday, Things were going well then, we found out our friends from church, their 35-year-old son was killed by a hit and run driver sometime after midnight in the early hours of Saturday. I was so sad all day. I don't know all the details, but we all know if you're out after midnight by yourself your probably not up to much good. But always so hard on the family. I had to drive Mom to bowling around 6 and I thought Ron would go for a ride and we'd find something to do but right as I was getting ready, he was scammed from a sale on Facebook Marketplace, and he had to deal with that. To the point he had to change his phone number. People are so sneaky and if you do not pay attention to ever little detail, it is easy to fall in these traps. So I came home watched a movie and Made Myself a Screwball old fashion.
Sunday did not get much better. We tried a new Chruch and went to brunch with a friend. (That was the good part) Then I wanted to make soup and chicken salad to take for the grieving family and search high and low for Mini meatballs for the wedding soup. Never did find them so I used a larger one. Oh well, it was still good. We dropped it off with a cheesecake and stayed about an hour and a half. I set the food out so everyone would eat and cleaned up before we headed out. On the way home we were passing the casino and I wanted to win back my losings. Not a good plan. Then I came home and ate more crap I should not have, and wondered if Jim was tailgating for MILF manor. Not the best weekend so kind of glad we did not have a holiday today. Don't think I needed 1 more day.

Water and Vitamins: On track. I take a Bariatric Advantage Ultra multi w/iron I use bariatric advantage Calcium chews and 500mg of Magnesium. I also use Miralax and fiber in my first coffee of the day.

Here is a little more meat to the story that blows me away. So, the byproduct was sand. And contractors building homes needed sand for the grouting of bricks. They stole the byproduct not knowing it was radiated and for years all the homes (even my grandparents) were full of radiation. When the company came to clean it up and bury it, they ended up having to rebuild a bunch of homes at their expense because the contractors stole the "sand."
