Good morning. The sun is out for a few days and I'm going to get out in it today. Even though it is still chilly.

Yesterday was successful with exercise. I did a Netflix workout. I searched out Netflix based on Jen's recommendation and really liked that they have all types of workouts in many different lengths. So I did a 20 high intensity and a 10 minute core yoga and hit my 30 minute goal. High intensity included what they called "popcorn squats" and I had jiggly legs for a few hours after and I am sore today. My planned food went very well, but my for reals added 1 glass of wine and 1 ounce of beef jerky (not at the same time, lol). We got the upstairs french doors painted and worked some more on planning out our trip. A good day over all.

Today is walk and yoga day. I'm roasting beets and celeriac right now for my menus this week. Need to do a few house chores then I'll leave for my 3 mile walk and end up at chair yoga at the library. I'm still hoping to get out to Target and Kohl's, but need nothing pressing. So we'll see how the afternoon shapes up.

QoTD: I do love watching them. I like the clothes and some of the speeches. I don't care if they get political or religious or artistic. I'm in the camp of they have a platform and I hope they use it for good or goodwill. Last night's show was a bummer and I thought the host was pretty disrespectful a lot of the time and rarely funny. But I would watch it again to see Ryan Murphey's acceptance speech, which was all about acceptance. Love is love is love.

Menu:

B: turkey and butternut squash skillet

L: roasted beets/goat cheese/oranges/red onion and pistachios

D: either chicken shawarma and salad or a pork chop.

Peace Everybody!

Your lunch sounds great - I wish I liked beets, but I just can't.

I like pickled beets but probably because of the high sugar content.

Ha! My kids call them sweet dirt and refuse to eat them. I just roasted these and they are amazing!

G'morning all!

QJB - can I come to the cookie-con as a taste tester? It sounds like my fantasy of heaven.

We survived another day of mayhem in NorCal. My little neck of the woods even made news on CNN, NBC and Rachel Madow. National meteorologists are found up to their calves in our flooded streets reporting back. Between the power outages, the rain, the wind, flooding and mudslides I don't know what else is mother nature throwing our way. I saw a PG&E (our electric company) post about a road that I would usually take if I didn't want to deal with the traffic coming back from Silicon Valley; they had filmed the mudslide and the trees falling down in slow motion. It scared the heck out of me. For the foreseeable future I am taking the freeway no matter how much traffic there is, no back roads driving because there are too many trees.

QOTD: I used to watch it more regularly and have theme parties, but during Covid fell out of the habit. The last couple of years watched it just for the fashion. And last night not only didn't know about it but we didn't have power.

My meals yesterday:

  • Cold instant Coffee (no power) - thank you TJ
  • Mex cauliflower rice + ground turkey
  • Chomp stick, chobani yogurt,
  • Shredded pork and cheese
  • E: nope, seems like if I don't do my workouts in the earlier part of the day, any excuse is good afterwards not to do them.

Happy hump day!

Glad you are safe!! I made the mistake of taking a back road this morning and it was backed up due to flooding on parts of the road still. I'm sticking to the freeway too.

That is so scary. I had a brother caught up in some flash flooding in the Midwest years ago out on country roads. It usually isn't an issue in the cities but man, that flooding out in CA right now is just massive. This extreme weather is really concerning.

That sounds...catastrophic. Hope nothing of yours is underwater. Or mud. Be safe out there!
