Mornin' All!

taking one of the cats to the vet today for a shot (some new med for arthritis. You're supposed to do two shots a month apart, and then if it's working, he'll get them monthly. He's still got signs of arthritis, but about a week after injection #1, we spotted him on top of the refrigerator for the first time in about a year - and he's 18 years old! So the med seems to be doing something!). Not much else going on today except for doing some reading for my book discussion group, exercising, and waiting to see if I get approved to audit any classes. I submitted two more "permission to audit" forms last night (one at each university) since I still haven't gotten responses from my first two requests. I'm kinda wondering if faculty just aren't "back to it" yet and haven't seen the requests. Classes don't start until Jan 23, so it could be they're enjoying their last week of vacation and won't head to the office (or at least deal with business email****il next week. Fingers crossed something works out, though.

QOTD: No. We get invited to things like Oscar parties every two or three years, and if so we'll go, but otherwise, I don'****ch and don't pay much attention to it. I do check to see who won Best Picture as well as the other nominees for that, though. As for TV and music, I don't have much interest in either (although I was glad to hear that "Abbott Elementary" is doing so well. I've only watched it half a dozen times (after hearing about it here on the thread), and it's very well done).

B: plain skyr with fruit compote, coffee with half & half

MS: protein shake

L: I'm thinking about making protein oatmeal - topped with plain skyr and fruit

AS: protein muffin or Ratio yogurt

D: same as last night - cole slaw mix topped with half a pack of Loma Linda taco filling, grape tomatoes, and plain Greek yogurt

have a great day, everyone!

Good morning all and Happy Wednesday,

This week has been moving along. A new issue jumped to the top of my priority list last night. I'm having an endoscopy Friday as a preventative follow up from my bariatric surgeries in 2021. I received a call yesterday to provide me with information for the Covid test at the hospital ahead of surgery. When I go anywhere new, I always have to find out logistics of getting from my car door into the building. Unfortunately, the hospital does not have handicapped spaces within a walkable distance from the front door and they don't have Valet, which I have used at every other hospital. So after 5 phone calls and a couple MyChart messages yesterday afternoon couldn't get an answer, I'm back on it this morning.

QOTD - I am not a huge fan of awards show. I haven'****ched an award show in years and can catch the highlights the next morning if I'm interested.

B: Dannon Light and Fit Coconut Yogurt, Tangerine.

L: PP shake

D: golden shrimp leftovers and green beans.

S: 100 cal popcorn & string cheese

HW: 371 SW(8/9/21): 324 CW: 215. 0 lbs til goal of skin reduction surgery. I'm still looking for a new plastic surgeon.

I hope you are able to get the parking situation figured out. That has to be frustrating.

No handicap parking near the entrance? At a hospital??? Lordy you can tell you are not in California where we have mandated laws about how many handicap spaces must be allotted based on the size of the parking lot and the type of business. Any medical related facility will likely have two full rows minimum of handicap parking. Another reason I love California.

Good luck. Could you maybe Uber/Lyft and get a drop at the front door? Stay safe!

Thank you for the suggestion.

Gratefully, I was able to get an alternative Covid testing location approved this morning. I did my test today and already emailed results to the bariatric doctor's office and pre-op services at the hospital.

So if I couldn't find a viable alternative, I would have asked my home health aide to help me outside of his normal hours, start trying to find an available friend to take me or pony up for rideshare. Rideshare is stupid expensive at random times in Chicago.

So happy to see the camel again and know you are back posting. Check with your medical insurance company for any type of rides to appointments. I have to book two weeks in advance but get picked up at home and dropped off at the door. I especially like it for early morning appointments when I don't always trust my blood sugar not to drop.

Thanks for the suggestion about the insurance benefit of rides to medical appointments. I have previously attempted to use this service twice. They didn't show up at all the first time and arrived so late the second time that the doctor cancelled my appt as a no-show. It is a great benefit if it were reliable.

Sorry you had those bad experiences. We had problems with the company that was performing the service and the insurance company now has excellent drivers.

QJB-good luck on getting tickets to CookieCon!

Another workday. Two meetings today, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. I am going to squeeze in my chest weightlifting workout during the day while at work with yoga in the evening. Other than that, not much to report.

QOTD: No, not really. After living in Southern California, I got tired of the self-congratulations of the entertainment industry. Isn't the award the enormous paychecks they earn?
