Twas the night (morning) before Christmas - what do you have planned?

Happy Christmas Eve everyone! Apparently, I was up before OH was up this morning but now it's ready for the holiday as well!

Nothing too big planned for today, stay out of the stores and relax at home. I'm going to watch Glass Onion, the Knives Out Sequel for sure. I did my rowing workout and might do some pilates this afternoon, just for the stretch. Will make a few holiday phone calls today so I don't have to do them tomorrow and pretty chill overall.

QOTD - what historical figure would you like to meet to chat with at a holiday party? After yesterday's Apollo exhibit, I'm going with Neil Armstrong. The played his suit telemetry as he was landing The Eagle on the Moon, manually, and it didn't even raise his heart rate....a steady 150 all the way through. Those early test pilots and astronauts were an amazing breed. Anyway the traveling Apollo: When We Went to the Moon exhibit is great; you should see it if it comes to a museum near you!

menu today is coffee plus half and half, a bit of eggnog too.

egg, sausage and toast which will cover lunch too

charcuterie

will have a yogurt sometime too, maybe a frozen L&F

Have a wonderful Christmas Eve, or Saturday, whichever you celebrate:-)

Good morning Jen and menuers,

Yep, OH has been down a couple times for me over the last two weeks. Blamed my phone.

Some of my stepfather's family is coming over today for the first time and they want the house to be in showroom condition for first impressions. That's about the extent of today. Yesterday included a Scrabble marathon and avoiding being outdoors.

Going to try and get more walking in today but it's still pretty darned cold.

QOTD - Hmm. Let's go with the knee jerk Amelia Earhart.

Accountability- Bit of ramen yesterday but more vegetables and poached eggs than noodles.

Menu

Protein shake, protein chips, protein bar, oikos triple zero, maybe a chomp, couple Costco meatballs.

Hope everyone has a great day! I'll be making toffee pudding at some point. Cheers!

Mornin' All!

Evidently the snow and wind are all behind us, but it's still ridiculously cold here (gradual warm-up starting Tuesday). DH is going to go out and snowblow/shovel later this morning. I hate to see him out in this cold, but the city requires sidewalks to be cleared by noon after a snow stops (so even if it stops at 3:00 pm, you still have until noon the next day to clear your sidewalks). I should probably go out and help (at least with the shoveling part) even though I'd rather stay in today. It'd mean less time for him out there - plus it'd be good exercise.

I'll also be making the Christmas lasagna today (made the marinara sauce yesterday), and I might make modified sweet potato/cranberry bread for tomorrow as well (replace half the flour with crushed bran flakes, replace the butter with plain Greek yogurt and/or unsweetened applesauce, and add some protein powder). Oh - and Swerve brown "sugar" instead of the real thing. There will be cookies at my mom's house, so if I'm tempted to indulge, the bread will at least be a better option.

QOTD: well, I don't think she'd be considered a historical figure yet, but the first person who popped into mind was Michelle Obama. I'd be pretty intimidated by anyone famous, but she seems very down-to-earth and accepting. Plus she's got a great sense of humor to boot.

B: plain skyr with cranberry/cherry compote, coffee with half & half

MS: protein shake

L: Thai-style curried sweet potato/lime soup, grilled chicken strips with BBQ sauce (may swap with dinner)

AS: protein muffin

D: chocolate "mousse" (made with cottage cheese) topped with light Cool Whip and raspberries (may swap with lunch)

ex: well, if I'm out shoveling this morning, that should do the trick! Otherwise, my gym has hybrid Zumba and WERQ classes this morning (unless they're cancelled at the last minute), so one of those.

have a great day, everyone!

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!

I've been very good this year it seems. The saying I get by with a little help from my friends rings so true this year. My late best friend used to buy be dark chocolate dipped figs for Christmas. Fancy ones even. I shared a memory on FB about it. Not expecting anything from it. It was just a fond memory of my friend. Yesterday in the mail I received two things of dark chocolate covered figs! I will be honest...I cried and even my mom cried. I miss my friend so so much and this felt like a hug from her in a way. I don't know which FB friend sent it but let me tell you...wow. Then I got a "bonus" from the lovely friend I do contract work for. I feel loved. Not because of the gifts, they are super nice, but the thought behind things. A simple word of kindness goes a long way. Just taking time to let people know that you love them and care for them. That's my New Year's resolution...say it more and show it more.

Today looks to be laid back. We forgot one little thing at the grocery store. Cool whip! Ugh. We'll run and get that this morning at the small grocery store near by. Presents are all wrapped I just need to do my mom's stocking. She's really into Christmas elves. The silliest thing I got for her stocking is elf barf. It's rainbow colored licorice strings. The packaging is hilarious!

QOTD: Eleanor Roosevelt or Abraham Lincoln. I'd still like to talk to Gene Krantz too.

food is unplanned.

the kittens say Merry Christmas!

I would so love to visit you someday and pet those beautiful kitties. Especially the one with blue eyes. I laughed at a Facebook meme the other day about cat people. It said when a cat lover sees a cat it is like they have read about cats all their life, but never actually seen one. Every cat they meet is an exciting experience for them and like seeing a cat for the very first time.
