So great that so many of you got together. And thank you for the update on Mershmellow. I have wondered how she was.

Afternoon, All!

I just got home from Chicago about a half hour ago. I met up in the city with three of my cousins yesterday (at Tre Kronor near North Park Univ, Jim) and then went to a cemetery where our newly discovered fourth cousin's grandparents are buried, but he had no idea what the section and plot numbers were, so there's no way we were going to find them. Hopefully next time he'll be able to find that info beforehand. But we did see the memorial to the 600 people who died in the Iroquois Theater fire (back in the late 19th century, I think), and then went to another cemetery across the street to see the memorial to the 800+ people who died in the Eastland disaster in 1915.

I spent the night last night with one of my cousins in Wheaton (a western Chicago suburb). She wanted to show me this house with fabulous carved pumpkins. Jim probably knows the place:

anyway, eating this weekend could have been a lot worse, but it certainly wasn't great, either. Today didn't start out well, but I can probably make up for it since we still have half a day left.

QOTD: might go for a bike ride since it's beautiful out again today. Vet appt at 5:30 for one of the kitties (annual exam and vaccines). I don't think anyone in our neighborhood has kids anymore. We're all either single, childless married couples, or people whose kids are grown up and long gone. We used to get maybe 10 kids years ago, but it seemed to be less every year, so we eventually quit giving out candy. I suppose at some point the neighborhood will start turning around again. Many of us are retired - so as we start moving out and young families start moving in, things will probably change..

B: protein shake, coffee with half & half, and then a late-ish breakfast at a restaurant with my cousin: Swedish pancakes

MS: my cousin sent me home with a cookie and 3 Dove chocolates for the road, so I ate those plus a protein bar

L: may skip this - or maybe just have some yogurt

AS: protein muffin?

D: ??? some kind of protein and vegetables

have a great day, everyone!
