What's on your Tuesday Menu?

Good morning, everybody!

JB, congratulations on your new toy. I suspect that this will interfere with the horizontal days that you had planned.

It's freezing in Chicago this week - highs in the 40's. It is supposed to warm up towards the latter part of the week. Usually we get a few 80 degree days up until Halloween, but maybe not this year.

I got my flu shot and COVID booster yesterday. The flu shot wasn't covered by insurance so it was $49.98 for each of us. But going through the PCP is a pain, they never seem to have the shots in stock, or its not the right time, etc.

Yesterday, the flu side was sore, but the COVID side felt fine. Today both shoulders are a little sore. Not a big deal in either case. Our plan was to shop the Halloween section of CVS while we waited for the 15 minutes, but they had nothing. A few pieces of candy and that is it.

Tonight, I think that I am going to order tickets for Blink 182 in May. Trying to do all my little extra tasks during the week so that I can relax next weekend.

QOTD: The Macallan 18 that ended up on Chrissy's bar bill might be an example.

Breakfast: Frittatta

Lunch: Salad

Dinner: Steak

Have a great day, all!

Glad you got boosted! I hope you continue to feel good. It seems like that last booster was a tough one for a lot of people but this one has had milder side effects.

The last booster made me really sick the next day. I still have to get my flu shot this week. Glad the booster did not bother you much. I decided to do them 2 weeks apart. It is 38 in Ohio this morning and might snow.

A Blink 182 Reunion! I am also going to get tickets, so I need to look today. Turnstile is the opener, DS introduced me to their music, and I really like them. A little harder than Blink but still in the punk genre.

I am trying to decide our best options since the Seattle date is the same weekend of my nephews wedding in Montana (that Saturday with the concert in Seattle on Sunday). Might be a bit of a stretch to do both. The other option is Vancouver BC. DS really wants to go. We have seen them 3 other times, twice with Matt Skiba.

I hope that you don't have any side effects and take care. Stinks that insurance didn't cover the flu shot.

Mornin' All!

I'm going to water aerobics this morning, then I'll do phase 1 of the parmesan/rosemary shortbread I decided to make for the party on Friday night (I was hoping to make some kind of dessert with pumpkin and/or apples and/or maple, but I have no time, really, after today - but these shortbread things require several hours (or a day) between making the dough and baking the shortbread, and the shortbread actually gets better a couple of days after it's baked. So...perfect!). I've got an online class later this morning (will probably make the dough while I'm watching) and an in-person class this afternoon.

I watched the film-of-the-month for one of my film discussion groups last night (the group meets on Thursday). The title is "Eighth Grade". It was on the film festival circuit back when it came out. Not on any popular streaming services, but our library has several copies of the DVD and it's also on Kanopy, for those who have access to that. It was great - but very realistic to the point of being cringe-worthy at times as it was so typical of middle school. Such an awkward time of life. The film got great reviews so not sure why it was never widely released. Anyway, excellent film. I also need to finish reading the two books for my book discussion group that meets next Monday morning. They're both by Rita Williams-Garcia. We read the first book in this three-book series earlier this summer, and everyone loved it. I'm loving book 2 as well. They're written for young adults and follow the adventures of three African American sisters who were kids during the 1960s. Great stories and character development.

QOTD: watching various youtube videos that happen to catch my eye. I've watched several in the "Soft White Underbelly" series, some on various serial killers (including the Manson family - I was surprised to find one of the women in the "family" actually lives under an assumed name about three miles from me - although she was in jail for robbery during the time of the murders, so she wasn't involved - whew!). I also like the "Ask a Mortician" series. Plus there are just random ones that I spot and watch (like one I watched the other day about the Eastland disaster in Chicago in 1915) - so many interesting ones!

I haven't worked out my menu yet today (but I need to because I've overeaten by about 200 calories the last two days - with NO exercise....), but here's a stab at it:

B: protein oatmeal topped with plain skyr and cooked, diced 1/2 apple. Coffee with half & half

MS: protein shake

L: cheesecake-flavored yogurt pie with fruit

AS: protein muffin

D: salad with shredded chicken breast and light dressing

have a great day, everyone!

Good morning ~ Grim does spoil you, as it should be! Better luck today on your paper. Yesterday was crazy from dus****il dawn and then some. On standby for Jury Duty still. Speaking of jury - The jury has come back on a verdict for dad Ruben Flores, just waiting for Paul Flores verdict. They are waiting to announce them together and this may take a while. I am loving the new job, it's just juggling my full time job and full time training that is my challenge. All good stuff. Today is mostly training and a pot luck lunch - I'm bringing meatballs. Pray for me ya'll - I've been doing so good! Tonight I have a WLS support meeting, I guess they are weekly not monthly. I'm looking forward to joining with good internet this time.

QOTD - Guilty pleasure - 90 day Fiancé franchise. Rob too - we have our favorites but LOVE to hate on so many, lol.

Yesterday:

b - coffee x 2, Costco egg bites

l- chicken bites, romaine, grated parm, Caesar dressing
