Good morning ~ That meme, lol. I hope your day gets better JB. Happy Taco Tuesday and National Taco day! Working from home today thankfully after an all night migraine but feeling better this morning. The pain is gone, just the dull fog headache is left. I'm trying the Just Better Fiber in my coffee today instead of Miralax. I have so many samples. The cost seems comparable to Miralax, maybe even cheaper. Will see if it works for me before ordering. The research continues on all the info from the conference - It's very interesting! Looking forward to listening to Connie Stapleton's book Eat It Up (thank you Lisa!). She was the first speaker at the conference and I really enjoyed her talk.

QOTD - I love fruit but I rarely enjoy. I go through phases - most recent was apples. My favorites are pineapple, cherries, berries, mango and nectarines but anything fresh and ripe is wonderful.

Accountability - scraped lunch for burritos with kiddo - just the innards. No weight, I totally forgot - tomorrow.

b- coffee, eggs, salsa

l - chicken bites, feta, salad mix, tomato and evoo/rwv

d - chicken tenders and zucchini

e - may go for a walk later if my head clears up.

Have a wonderful day!

QOTD- I love fruit especially strawberries, raspberries, mandarins, green grapes. But I decided I wouldn't buy out of season berries anymore, the strawberries don't have any flavor. I usually eat some fruit with my lunch and berries for breakfast if I have them.

I had read a book about our microbiomes, and it speculated that WLS resets the gut and we get the good stuff back. And sadly I don't remember the name of the book.

No work so far this week, I feel like I'm having to beg for work. This is not fun.

For some reason I love The Walking Dead, I didn't have cable last year so I'm bingeing all of the episodes up to the current season so I can watch it. I probably wouldn't survive the zombie apocalypse, not sure I'd want to live in that world. You would think that there are so few people that they would cooperate, but we are our own worst enemies.

Lunch with the neighbors today, so that is what I'm looking forward to.

Have a great day everyone!

G'morning all!

QJB - sorry you are dealing with gerd. I can't even imagine the discomfort. The only time I dealt with acid reflux was during the last month of pregnancies and had to take tums. I remember thinking so this is what people mean when they talk about acid reflux, it's horrible. Hope you can get it under control.

Phew, first day at home and it was great; my food, my schedule. Although I wasn't able to do my wog until around 4:00 pm because the work had piled up from Thu & Fri. Luna really missed me while I was gone and was following me around from room to room and would curl up on my feet while I was working. She usually sleeps in her little bed in the office but today I think she needed to feel me close. It warmed my heart.

QOTD: I eat berries (blueberries, blackberries, strawberries) during the summer months. During winter I eat less fruit: cuties are the only ones I can think of. I'm not a big Apple eater.

My meals yesterday :

  • Coffee
  • Costco chicken skewers + toscano cheese dusted with cinnamon
  • Jello, iced coffee w/PP
  • TJ kebabs + Fage yogurt (made my own tzatziki sauce)
  • E: 4 miles neighborhood uphill wog

Happy taco Tue.

Good morning!

food choices were not optimal yesterday, but I did greatly limit volume and got in two miles of fast walking, so I'm just doing the best I can and enjoying Avila Beach and our friends.
Today we are pulling up stakes and moving over to Paso Robles. I'm standing by as designated driver in the day times while the group does wine tastings so I'm saving those calories. However, I'm indulging with a vengeance once the sun goes down and we all head into dinner. That should improve when they all leave Friday morning and Roger and I will continue on our trip an additional 4 days.
QoTD Very little fruit in my diet. I've had maybe one apple and two cups of watermelon in total since surgery.
Menu

B leftover insides of half a Turkey sandwich

the rest is TBD

Peace Everyone!

Good morning all and Happy Tuesday,

It's another beautiful day in the neighborhood. 70's in October - yeaaaahhhh boy!

Tonight is the start Yom Kippur, the day of atonement. There will be lots of self-reflection. It's accompanied by a 24 hour fast.

QOTD - I have a small tangerine every morning with my yogurt. I have jumbo blueberries in the fridge right now that was an impulse buy. I ate cherries during the summer and got carried away. I try to limit the fruit but turn to it when I want something sweet but don't want to resort to candy.

B: Dannon Light and Fit Coconut Yogurt, Tangerine.

L: PP shake.

D: ??

it IS a way better option than candy. I'm going to probably increase my consumption as I'm trying to wean myself from artificial sweeteners. Plus the fiber is good...

I only eat fruit when it is fresh and at its peak. I eat cherries for a few weeks a year, peaches for a few weeks, melon when it is perfectly ripe. This week I had a bartlett pear that was wonderful. I don't waste my money on fruit that has been kept in cold storage and is basically tasteless and rarely eat canned for frozen fruit or berries. Naval oranges are good around Christmas time.

It's funny. I've spent some time in Europe, including many trips to local grocery stores. It seems Europeans do a better job at -gasp- offering produce when it's in season. I fully admit this is just my perception! They aren't as bad about transporting things around the world to sell, or seem to be believers that bigger is better. In my experience with produce, and having grown produce, it's often the bigger stuff that tastes bland and watery. If only we could learn better. Even if that means you don't get asparagus or cherries year-round. :) Best strawberries I ever ate were purchased from a local farmstand while tooling through the countryside in Norway. Same for raspberries.
