I dont do sushi, but agree in general about the rice. Every time I have rice at the Chinese restaurant I suffer after. I have learned to limit the amount of rice I eat, maybe a few fork full.

I've stuck with sashimi the few times I've gotten sushi. I recently tried maki for the first time since surgery and the rice went down fine. I was good for one roll and probably should've stopped at 5 pieces.

Good morning ~ Bacon, yum! Enjoy your venture into the attic, JB. I'm WFH again today - feeling better, just tired. Hoping to feel 100% by Monday with a strong week of exercise and on plan. My glucose monitor is still interesting - I thought I would be into it way more, but after a few big spikes that scared the crap out of me, I am being seriously careful. One was from 2 mini peanut butter cups, another was the Indian food buffet (naan). Surprisingly, pizza, toast and an apple w/peanut butter did barely anything. Not seeing any difference in splenda vs stevia, but it may be that be because it effects insulin vs glucose... Timing is everything, my sugar gets in the low 50's at night so the alarm goes off constantly. A bedtime snack helps with that. Still learning. I have another week on this monitor and another 2 week monitor.

QOTD - Apparently gadgets that promise to make my life easier! I have cabinets full of them all. My latest - the egg cooker is awesome. But tell that to the airfryer, the instapot, the spiralizer, the rice cooker, the ice cream maker, the shake maker, the bullet, the vitamix, the popcorn maker, all the silicon molds for all these gadgets....I know I'm forgetting some. The bread maker and the mini fryer, the waffle maker.... OMG.

Accountability - apple and PB

B- coffee, trying poached eggs

l - eggplant casserole

d- egg foo young

Have a great Friday and weekend!

I can see that the pizza and apple with pb wouldnt cause a spike in BG since it has a fair amount of fat that would slow the release of sugar into the blood stream. The toast, if whole gain or higher in fiber would have the same effect. Do you feel that the monitor has helped change your eating for the better?

The toast was Dave's Killer good seed w/butter. Yes it is changing the way I eat for the better. Seeing the spikes/dips scared me after having learned what my body is really going through when that happens. I used to not have an issue risking RH to eat sweets or carbs before, but seeing the graph spike and crash? I'm no longer interested in testing my limits. Life changing.

When I was dealing with really bad hypoglycemia and RH, no sugar added nut butters were my to go things.

1-4 Tbs of natural, no sugar added PB or almond butter would keep my BS stable most of the night. I kept nut butter jar by my bed. I often had issues with my BS crashing first thing am. I learned to eat 1tbs of nut buffer before I even got out of bed.

I carried individually packed serving of nut butter with me all the time. And dark chocolate (70-75 - i.e. Lindt black chocolate truffles) My my BS would get very low (30's or below) I also often had an aversion to swallow food. The dark chocolate (not too dark) ws easy to take, and because it has fat, and some sugar - it really helped me to bring the BS up. Im my worse times, I often did not even notice my BS in 50 or high 40's. in low 40's I would start having vison changes, and in mid 30's was often a begging of "a crash cycle". I'm glad you are taking Hypoglycemia seriously.

Whey protein shakes can cause a serious insulin spike and trigger RH, same as egg white proteins.

Ha I literally have all of the gadgets you mentioned. For me, it's not the sell of "make your life easier" but I always imagine that I am one kitchen appliance away from actually cooking things, but alas... I really just hate cooking and will always microwave a veggie burger before I will ever chop or mix ingredients. It's kind of hilarious that I am now being for a living. I like baking but I cannot be bothered to ever make a meal.

I enjoy cooking, always have and anything that can make it easier/better - I will always be a sucker for. I'll leave the baking to the experts!
