Mornin' All!

I was up from 3:00-4:00 a.m. with a sick cat (not the one who was at the vet's yesterday, but my old guy who's had IBD for years). It was IBD-related - diarrhea and vomiting. He meowed and meowed wanting me to get up - I'm sure he probably felt like crap - cramping, etc - and wanted his mama. But he's much better this morning. It's usually well-managed by prednisolone, but he does get these spells once or twice a month. The other guy (who had the ultrasound yesterday) seems to be OK, other than the pancreatitis he was diagnosed with last week (which seems to have resolved). The ultrasound didn't show anything else - although they sent it over to a radiologist to confirm. Whew.

it's another beautiful day and unfortunately my injured legs (bike accident last weekend) still aren't ready for biking or much walking, so we'll drive somewhere - not sure where, but it's just way too nice to stay in today. Maybe we'll go to one of the small towns in the area for lunch or something.

glad to hear the buprenorphine is working, Melody. I'm familiar with that drug as we've had to give it to cats occasionally. Seems to work like a charm!

QOTD: I worked at a major research university for years (and still live in the same city), so I ran (and run) into really interesting people all the time. It's hard to pick just one.

B: protein oatmeal with a dollop of plain skyr and some raspberries, coffee with half & half

MS: protein shake

L: if we're home, the last piece of cheesecake-flavored yogurt pie with strawberry compote. If we're out...?? Something safe because I'm feeling bloated this morning (not sure what's up with that...too much sodium yesterday, maybe??)

AS: ??

D: Indian bean curry ****ep putting this on the menu and then eating something else - we need to deal with this before it rots!)

have a great day, everyone!

here's Minik yesterday waiting at the vet clinic for his ultrasound

Good morning all and Happy Friday,

We made it through another week!

I'm looking forward to the weekend. Tomorrow, I'm going to a Chinatown Summer Fair to check out a bboy competition (breakdancing). I'm hoping there's some foodstuffs that I haven't tried and am allowing myself to eat one item.

Last night, I caught the Lollapalooza livestream of Metallica, who I first saw 30 years ago. It's so nice they are offering a Livestream. The guitarist now resembles a skeleton with long gray hair. It doesn't replace live shows but scratches the itch. I have been to Lollapalooza more than a handful of times but feel old that I don't recognize 90% of the bands anymore.

Yesterday, I grabbed coffee with an old college friend and I also have such a great time every second I spend with her. Here's a pic of us at a Cubs' game ten years ago.

QOTD - Tough question. I think everyone is interesting and unique in their own right. There was an old journalist, I don't remember who it was, but they said the reason he's so passionate about his job is that there's something to be learned from everyone you encounter. I took that to heart.

B: Dannon Light and Fit Coconut Yogurt, Tangerine.

L: 1/2 corned beef sandwich.

D: ???

HW: 371 SW(8/9/21): 324 CW: 215. 0 lbs til goal of skin reduction surgery. I'm still looking for a new plastic surgeon.

Good morning! Mel, love the AI filter!

I had a successful day yesterday with food, even though I had a situation with my lunch time chicken breast getting stuck. Ugh! Thanks to Sheila for letting me text whine through it with her. It's only the second time. I can assure you my dinner was chewed to baby food mash before it was swallowed!

Brown dog got new meds for his ear infection yesterday, and has his surgery consult this morning for his torn ACL. At the rate this dog is going I'm going to be eating cat food, so then I guess I won't have to worry about things getting stuck anymore. Poor guy. Black dog is NOT going to like being away from his buddy. Yesterday while they rinsed out brown dog's ear and cultured it, black dog sat at the door and whined and howled looking for him. These two are like identical twins. Best buddies. They are side by side all the time.

We also need to run to a friends house to get the low down, we are going to be popping in for the next two weeks to water things and check on stuff while he goes on a hunting/fishing trip to Alaska. I've been promised seafood fresh out of the ocean (frozen and shipped of course) on his return. And this evening we are hosting dinner on the deck for four of the people that went to Bulgaria with us. Two are of course are good friends and close neighbors, but two are from the next city over and we can see their house on the hill from our house. And we met in Bulgaria. Small world indeed. Should be great fun.

B: leftover chicken saltimbocca, diced really tiny and mixed with cottage cheese. This is what got stuck yesterday, so adding the cottage cheese and taking my time. But no way am I tossing out this yummy last piece of chicken!

L: leftover bell pepper stuffing and some pop chips

D: Maui ribs, sticky rice, kale sweet salad. There will also be apps and desserts brought here, but I'm going to try and behave myself. And wine--because deck parties require nice wine.

My picture is from our sailing group last Sunday at the end of the day.

Peace Everybody!
