Happy Fri-Yay everybody!!
JB, I think those dogs are super cute.
This is the first weekend that me and Marilyn will be home together since Christmas. We were in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl New Years, then Marilyn was in Colorado driving our son to school, then we were both in Chicago for the wedding (exception to sober-ish January noted), then Marilyn was in Las Vegas with the ladies, then I was at UAB with our youngest. The plans are to just stay home and relax! Happy Hour, Crossfit, some slow cooker meals, ordering tickets for REO/Styx/Loverboy and a few household to do's. I may go ice fishing on Sunday for a few hours.
Two years ago, we were supposed to go on a cruise in Portugal. Of course it was cancelled because of COVID. All of our refunds have been easy to get with the exception of one flight from a certain European airline. It was for about $2,650. First they said no refunds only credits. So we re-booked for last September. Then they cancelled that flight when Delta variant kicked up and International travel was put back on hold. So after much back and forth, Marilyn told them that to refund us the money. They sent us a check for $142 and said "OK, we're good." Um, no.
So Marilyn went back to the drawing board put all of her paperwork together in a 1/4 inch thick pile and mailed it to them requesting another $2,500 refund. Nothing happened. And there was nobody on the customer service call lines to help. Plus a request to state the problem but only five seconds to leave a message. So she researched how to file suit in small claims court, booked a flight to New York (different airline) and sued them.
Finally, yesterday, someone with a brain must have seen her materials because she got an email from the airline's legal department that they would like to settle out of court and will be refunding her the full fare plus her court costs (which were only like $20.) Needless to say, she is ecstatic. She is going to get a new tennis racquet to celebrate once she receives the actual cash.
For those booking their travel to the OH conference, make sure that you arrive in time for dinner on Thursday. That Paella is not going to eat itself.
We watched the first three episodes of Reacher last night. I'm sure we will hit the next five over the weekend.

Jim - I'm planning to fly out there on Thursday as well. Are you coming back on Sunday? I'm guessing since this is only a two-day conference, there will be stuff most of the day on Saturday as well - so I'll probably fly back on Sunday. I'll need to book a room for a night (not sure which end) since Chrissy (my roomie!) booked for two nights.
Trish, I may be going straight from California to Texas for a visit with friends, so I'm not sure if I will be heading back to Chicago.
