Drinking 150 grams of protein on day 5??
As much as I hate to suggest that, you may try to start hiding foods that are for you.
Having someone takes all without consideration for others is very selfish. And it probably would happen more as he gets to start eating.
I have "a friend" - a coworker who would eat my food just because he wanted to. Weare more like family, than just friends/coworkers and after many situations when my planned food was gone, I learned to bring much more, be flexible, and always have some emergency supplies like cans of tuna, salmon, chicken or things like that. The good thing is that he doesn't mind I help myself to his stash, but often he has what I consider "junk food" so I'm seldom get his stuff.
Getting angry at him was only hurting me, so I adapted. Food is food. If there is something I really don't want to share, I often wrap it in a few layers, freeze, or if room temperature stable- I keep some in my office.

I worked with a guy who had surgery and while still in the hospital ordered a cheeseburger, milkshake, and fries. He did break his stitches open and had to be taken back to surgery. The surgery is on your stomach, not your brain and some people are addicted to food. He will not hurt himself with the protein drinks as it is all liquid anyway. Hard as it is, let his doctor and medical team handle it.

my brother-in-law, after having a heart attack and while still in the hospital, ordered a cheeseburger, fries, and cheesecake for lunch. They allowed him to have the cheeseburger, I think - but that's it. I'm surprised they even let him have that. I would have ordered the salmon filet and a vegetable. I honestly don't "get" some people...

These posts just make me feel very grateful to be alive .
Yes .... I was TOTALLY that guy ... sneaking food overeating a minute after surgery even drinking ...
I would encourage him to come on here , read and post . He can and will get a ton of support and learn from many years of experience. Obviously he didn't get the surgery because he didn't want or felt he needed it .
he just can't handle the consequences ( feeling hungry ) . Look I never ever felt hungry all my life either ... I was totally spoiled . This can work - the focus needs to be on getting through the day . I personally walked like every half hour . It was a great distraction and also helped me lose weight permanently.
Thanks for your insight. My hub has tried to avoid ever being uncomfortable his entire life. He does hate hunger, having grown up in a family that was very poor. He'd get up late at night and make extra food for himself. Once his parents heard him and put a stop to it which he still thinks was abuse.
Did you need to get counselling to change your mindset? I'm still seeing a counselor after one year.
Congrats to you for hour permanent weight loss!

H.A.L.A.B. Wow, that would have peeved me no end. My hub has always been a food thief so I may find myself hiding food again eventually. As White Dove said, it's our stomachs that are operated on.
I did go along to his first appt. No one was happy with his protein binge, and he learned that his extreme constipation was possibly caused by or at least exacerbated by it. He was in excruciating pain and even had called the surgeon on call over the weekend. However, he lost 11 pounds so good on him for that.
Thanks everyone for responding. No one understands like some one who has been there and I love that about this site. ?
