Good morning everybody!

Humpty.

It's below zero in Chicago today. I looked at the 10 day forecast and we are supposed to get more normal temperatures after tomorrow. And me and the youngest are heading out of town as well. It's probably a good thing that he is headed out of town because Marilyn found empty Bud Light Selzter cans in his room and isn't particularly happy with him.

I'm halfway through tuitions this week - 8 semester of the oldest and four of the middle are done. 4 of the middle and 8 of the youngest to go. DD got her Masters degree at the same time as undergraduate, so she won't be going back. It's possible that my Middle will want to stay for his Masters but we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

Since I am going to be away this weekend, I am trying to cram 4 Crossfit classes and 3 lifting workouts into 4 days. Today is my last double shift which is good because I'm wearing down from that schedule.

QOTD: Kirkland Protein Bars. Not quite as cute as Mocha, so let's call this hypothetical pet "Kirkie."

Breakfast: Turkey meatballs and cottage cheese

Lunch: Mahi Burger

Dinner: TBD

Have a great day, all!

your middle one is in engineering, isn't he? A lot of grad students in STEM programs (or at least here at Wisconsin) are offered assistantships that cover tuition (well, and they get a stipend, too...), so he may be set financially if ends up going that route...

Yes, I have heard that if you are paying for your own STEM graduate degree, you aren't doing it right. Hopefully that is the case. My daughter's boyfriend is also an electrical engineer. He was sure that he was going to graduate school, but his senior year was so hard it just burned him out. So I am just waiting and seeing.

Mornin' All!

My weight is up a notch again this morning. I checked myfitnesspal records for the last four days, and my sodium and fiber intake of both were pretty high, so I'm hoping that's all it is, but still, this is getting very frustrating. My caloric intake hasn't really changed over the past couple of years, and I exercise pretty much every day, yet my weight either doesn't budge or occasionally inches up. I'm starting to think that my body's caloric needs have dropped (which I know can happen as people age). I'm going to have to somehow cut back - which is not easy to do. This sounds pretty bad, but I've even checked drug stores for diet pills (to take for awhile until I get used to a lower calorie intake), but they don't seem to make them anymore. Maybe they had some ingredient in them that people were using to make meth or something. Regardless, that's probably not the healthiest way to do it anyway. I just need to deal with it. i know you get used to lower calories after a few days of "suffering". But - I have no choice. Boo.

classes start today. One meets on Zoom, the other is asynchronous (which means the lectures are recorded, so we can watch them whenever). Looking forward to this semester! I also have one of my film discussion groups today, but we're meeting on Zoom as well. Between the frigid temps and the omicron surge, Zoom is pretty much our only option.

QOTD: the last time I ate anything solid (I had herbal tea last night - and some cough drops - but those don't count) was at dinner. I had a cup of carrot almond soup and a thing of L&F creme brulee. But those aren't good names for that little guy!

B: not hungry at all - so I may just have a protein shake since I'm going to do a cardio video here in a few minutes. Coffee with half & half (already had)

MS: skyr with 2 T fruit compote

L: carrot soup and a protein muffin

AS: two Kalifornia Keto "energy bites"

D: 1/2 a veggie burger on 1/2 a slim bun and some kind of vegetable

have a good day, everyone!

it goes without saying that my weight won't go down if my caloric intake is the same as it's been for the last two years. It's the inching up part that's bothering me. I've gained five pounds in the last eight months or so. I feel like I'm living year 3 all over again, when I shot up c. 15 lbs with little to no effort on my part (the dreaded bounce back weight). But anyway, THAT'S the part that's weird. So I've got to think that my needs have probably decreased. Even if they've decreased by only 50 calories a day, over time, that adds up to a lot. I'm going to try really hard to get them down - even if it's only 100 calories down, and see what happens. I can't continue like this. Boo.

Any chance it's muscle weight with all the exercising you have been doing? How are your clothes fitting? Maybe you are turning into Muscle Woman!

actually, that thought has crossed my mind... My clothes fit fine, and there are days when I think I actually look a little slimmer. So maybe??? I just seem to have this mental thing about being over 160 lbs - that's been my "oh hell - it's time to do something" threshold for the last two or three years. I'm not far over it, but I can't seem to get back under it. UGH. But yes - it could just be muscle weight. Regardless, I'm going to try cutting calories about 100 for awhile and see what happens. That much of a cut shouldn't be all that noticeable...

YOu should try body part measurements for tracking purposes or body composition analysis. it does help if you have had it done in the recent past for comparision.

Look at the reply I did with Chrissy yesterday, there were some interesting information I discovered while studying to become a certified bariatric nurse regarding weight loss and maintenance. Wishing you good luck on your efforts.

I did have a DEXAscan c. four years ago when I weighed 146 lbs. I had 22% fat at that time, which the technician said was very lean for a woman. I weigh about 15 lbs more than that now, so MAYBE it's still in an acceptable range (IIRC, up to 30% is acceptable for women (??)), so I suppose there's a chance I might not be not be too, too far over that. But yes - I should probably have that done again. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll go now and check to see what your wrote yesterday. thanks!
