G'morning all!
Well, ladies and gents, I am here to eat my words. Remember about a week ago I was griping about DS's college going online for the first two weeks of class (first day was yesterday)? They have strict protocols for vaxx, booster, 2-3 times a week testing, and masks indoor. So I was wondering why the heck would they go online if all of this is in place. Wouldn't you know that somebody somewhere wanted to teach me a lesson? DS texted us yesterday that he has Covid; thankfully no symptoms, he is quarantined, and the school is providing him with care and three meals while he is in one of the quarantine dorms. After the first scare of getting his text, and him having had asthma till a couple of years ago (he had one of those versions where eventually you outgrow it), he assured us he is fine and actually enjoying his quarantine and attending classes online. I asked him if he wanted me to go down there, but he said he'd rather have Covid 5 more times than his mom showing up on campus. That's my 19 year old for you! But I'm happy he is in a good mood and already liking his spring semester classes. He said because he has no symptoms they will let him out 5 days after the test, which was yesterday. So very thankful the school is so strict with their rules, it teaches me to never question them again.
QOTD: yup. The car beeps at me until I take it in.
My meals yesterday:
- B: protein coffee
- L: scrambled eggs & shredded cheese
- S: protein puffs + chomp stick
- D: TJ's shrimp stir fry
- E: 5 miles jog
Happy jr Fri-yay!

Eeeep! Hope he gets his get out of jail card real soon! Quarantine dorms. I can't wrap my brain around these things. They sound like things that happened in medieval times. It's all just so odd for me. I mean, I'm a believer in the science, it's not that. It's that who would of ever thought these things would come about. I remember seeing the first waves in other countries and thinking "there's no way the USA is going to go to mandatory masks". Put me on the calendar as wrong.

I had read a book about the Spanish flu in august/sept 2019 and had been involved in some of our original Corp response with SARS, so as soon as I read "14 day incubation/asymptomatic" I knew we we're screwed but had no idea how crazy it would get. And honestly when I read about the mask protests, and magical thinking and cities having everyone come to churches to pray the flu away in thought it would be different this time. I join you and Sheila on the "oops, I was wrong" sofa. It's infuriating how much is the same but also reassuring that that did end, this will too.

Funny, John and I both read a 1000 page book about the Spanish Flu a few months before covid hit, so we were also weirdly informed about what was coming.

Oh, was it The Great Influenza by John Barry?

They are following the cdc rules. If you are fully vaxxed, received your booster, and have no symptoms, you are actually quarantining for other people in the community...hence 5 days.
