What's on your Monday menu?
hi all one more meeting- and yes apparently I'm the only one not off today... I would rather have another vacation day though so thats fine.
We are snowed in. we are on a mountain so there will be no getting out today unless I want to walk. We got a lot of snow, then ice then more snow and the power went out about 5 am sunday morning. Came back on at noon which i thought was a miracle. its also stayed on and I'm go glad.
QOTD: so so many things, jewelry making, soldering, pastry making, sewing, swimming (I suck at it), athletic things like running faster. And i wish my patience was better which im assuming is the root of me not being amazeballs at all these things i just listed...

G'morning all!
Did you guys hear about the underwater volcano and the tsunami warning for CA? Did you also know that in my area all high schools have a surf team that competes like your soccer, football, hockey etc teams? What I'm sure you didn't know was that the organizers of the surf contest, on Sat, decided to go ahead with the meet even with a tsunami warning. What the actual heck? There are videos of these poor kids trying to get back on land but being stuck like in a washing machine and being pulled away by the tide. My son is no longer part of the surf team, but as a mom I was outraged and would have bitten off the head of the organizers. I also put responsibility on the parents' shoulders that sent those kids out. Thankfully everybody was able to get out safely, but it was horrible seeing them struggle. All day there have been videos of the tides being so high that we practically didn't have any more beach left. An RV park which is at sea level was evacuated early Sat morning, and still...the morons of surf contest went ahead. A little creek that flows towards the ocean looked as big as a huge river and was flowing backwards because of the tide...it was so weird seeing the flow going the other way.
QOTD: playing the piano. I took lessons when I was a kid but didn't like it and stopped. I wish I hadn't stopped.
My meals yesterday:
- B: coffee & barebells bar
- L: left over pizza (only the tops)
- S: epic chicken bar
- D: egg salad w/cauliflower thins
- E: Rest day
Happy Monday & MLK!

That is absolutely insane! Glad no one was injured.
i have been so fascinated by all the science; years ago, I read a book on Krakatoa but they didn't have all the science equipment we can use now. Still astounded that they heard the explosion in Alaska and NZ!

They say the dogs heard it around 3:30 am in CA and started barking. I can't remember if Luna did it or not.

If something like that happened here, there would be videos on Facebook, the news satellite trucks would be lining the streets and the parents would be interviewing with their kids in wheelchairs, on crutches, in a neck brace, or a back brace. Lawyers would be filing cases and the parents would be seeing this as their opportunity to sue and get rich.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
There were videos on the local FB groups, that's how I saw it. And as an ex surf mom I am still on their distribution list even if my son is no longer on the high school team. My first reaction was why are they filming this instead of helping the kids out. In the comment section the opinions, as usual, went both ways; some surf enthusiasts were saying there was nothing wrong and it teaches the kids to respect the ocean and learn from it, while others were saying they shouldn't have been out. Thankfully because everybody was safe there were no lawyers involved.

The surfers may have felt that the waves were awesome! Although sounds a bit dangerous.
