As of now they are going back in person with masks and testing. They got a lot of push back from parents last time (especially those paying out of state tuition). So, I would imagine that they will only go remote if forced to by the county. CU Boulder is only about 20 miles from Mines and they are going remote for January.

Here's a total boy thing for you. Marilyn got this notification of a spring break trip to Costa Rica

Mi Cafecito Coffee Cooperative Tour, Sarapiquí - Hot Springs visit, Arenal Volcano - Waterfall Swim in La Fortuna - Canyoning in La Fortuna - Surfing in Santa Teresa - Cabo Blanco Boat Tour - Sunset Grill Beach Party in Santa Teresa - Beach I time in Santa Teresa - Free time in La Fortuna - All transport between destinations and to/from included activities - Most meals

Plus they get their Phys. Ed credit for the semester for attending.

Marilyn asks if he wants her to sign him up:

"No, thanks"

They also have the requirement for double vaxx + booster + masks in class. But they decided to keep an eye on everybody back from their homes by being online. My only hope is to not prolong it and let them go back in class, as long as it's safe.

DS also not interested in semesters or even breaks abroad. DD was all over it, him...nope. He even told us, back when we were traveling a lot, that he hated traveling. Who hates traveling?

I've done this trip. The country is absolutely beautiful . The hot spring visit is awesome. When you get to the bottom of the mountain there is a really cool swim up bar. If I remember correctly there is a buffet style meal that goes with it and it is yummy with lots of fish and seafood. We ended up driving Driving from La Fortuna to a little surf town about 8 hours away in Puerto Viejo De Talamanca. If I could get that deal I would do it again for sure.

re: attending classes from bed under the covers - that's my total preference! I LOVED it when the university went totally virtual! Unfortunately, there were pretty slim pickin's for online classes this past fall (the school was really pushing in-person), and same for the spring, but I'll find something to take. I absolutely love it!! But I suppose if I were a traditional student (as in 18-21 yo), not sure if I'd like it too much.

That's the thing...these kids need socializing. Last year he was at the dorms but all alone in his room and it was a disaster. This year he actually got to experience the campus and was so excited. I'm all for quarantine and shut downs but his college is advertising the f'ing basketball game with 30,000 attendees in a stadium but then the classes go online. Priorities?
And to be fair, if this was my DD I wouldn't have worried so much. She is strong and resilient and rolls with the punches. DS has had bouts of depression and it worries me if they go back into lock down.
I hear so many boys around this age 16-22 going through the same stuff. I don't get it!

We are in the midst of discussing remote/virtual college. Em can go to ASU paid for 100% through Starbucks but it's virtual. She wants the college experience.

Good Morning QJB and Menuers,

QJB so glad you are testing negative. Now that I had Covid I can't help but worry about what effects it could have on me in the future. It has definitely made me lazy! I hate not having the desire to jump out of bed and exercise. What's worse is I don't even feel guilty till I look at the scale. Now is where I would love to say but in my defense but I got nothing. Just been sloth like and not caring.

I also had a bad food day yesterday. I was able to stick to my water and two shakes until sundown but then I could not stop. I changed my dinner to guacamole, chicken skewers, and the end of the black eyed peas. DH and I went to church for a prayer session and after I came home the snacking began. Lots of protein chips with canned cheese(why do I even keep it in my house) I know it is gross but I love it and could polish off a full can of that crap. It's not even cheese!!!! I had a big bowl of Strawberry and blueberry but I saw leftover cranberry sauce in the fridge so I sweetened the berries with it and globed on Coconut whipped cream. Oh but that's not all!! There was jerky and a bunch of almonds. The only thing I didn't touch was the peanut butter. I hope I have the strength to stay away from all that crap today.

QOTD: My favorite are the Light and Fit seasonal flavors. Pumpkin, Toasted marshmallow, Tiramisu, crème Brule, and Boston Cream Pie. However My go to is Oikos Salted Carmel because it has better marcros.

Accountability: See above
