What's on your Wednesday Menu?
Mornin' All!
I have to drop a kitty fecal sample off at the vet's this morning (different kitty - kitty #1 did have parasites, so we're now testing her "roommate" (we timeshare our house since we have two who would kill each other if they were both out at the same time). After that I have a dentist appt, and then we'll go over to the university to pick up our Thanksgiving dinners which we'll stick in the fridge and then re-heat tomorrow. This is the first year we've done this - hope they're good!! Nothing else planned for the day, but I should probably get some more exercise. I'm up a pound since yesterday - not sure what's going on - although the fitness director told me a few weeks ago tha****er retention (which I've always dealt with) tends to get worse when you do a lot of weight training, because muscle holds on to water. I hope he's right on that and that that's why it seems to be worse lately. UGH. Regardless, I'll eat less than usual today and try to avoid salty things. I don't like feeling bloated like this!!
QOTD: my sister is obese. No one else in my immediate family is, but my mother has always struggled to keep her weight in check. One of my dad's sisters was overweight most of her life, but not obese. My brother started to pack on weight after he turned 50 and was overweight for a time (and maybe mildly obese - not sure how much he weighed), but he started running and is now thin as a rail (as he was most of his life).
B: 1/2 C mashed sweet potatoes (mashed with plain Greek yogurt and spices) topped with a 1/2 C plain Greek yogurt, 1/2 diced cooked apple and a squirt of SF "maple" syrup. Coffee with half & half.
MS: protein shake
L: the last piece of cheesecake-flavored yogurt pie with blueberry compote that's been on my menu for a few days (but I STILL haven't eaten it!)
AS: protein muffin??
D: the acorn squash stuffed with vegan sausage, apple, and celery that I planned to eat last night but didn't...
have a great day, everyone!
Good morning, everybody!
Yesterday was crazy busy at work. I started preparing for calls at about 8:00 and just kept working until about 10:30. I think my long day had the desired effect, though. Today I just have two early calls and a trip to the gym, but otherwise can start into holiday preparations. The gym was mobbed yesterday between college kids home from break, people trying to stay on workout schedules and young adults home for the holiday.
DD gets into the airport after 9:00 tonight, so we will go and pick her up. I remember one year being there on Wednesday night pre-Thanksgiving and you could tell where each flight had arrived from by all of the sweatshirts that the kids would have on as they came down the escalator. Florida's and Georgia's and Oklahoma's and Arizona's. Finally all of the Baylor and SMU and TCU's came by and we picked her up.
It's just our immediate family this year. Usually Marilyn's parents come visit, but they did an early celebration and are heading to Florida tomorrow. It was kind of an annual tradition that Marilyn's Mom would see a television cooking program recommending Zinfindel as an accompaniment to Turkey and tell me that yes, White Zinfandel is real wine. I didn't have the heart to tell her.
I once read that Turnip was the least popular Thanksgiving vegetable. So we always make sure to have it. I actually like the turnips. And by the weekend, it is nice to have something simple. Cant say we eat it any other day of the year.
QOTD: My Mom's entire side of the family is diabetic, for the most part. Some Type 1 and some Type 2. Neither of my parent's were overweight, but me and both of my sisters have struggles. Like in a lot of ways, they seemed to be a bad combination.
Breakfast: Egg Sandwich
Lunch: Chicken Schwarma (been craving for days but limited hours)
Dinner: TBD
Have a great day, all! I will post well wishes tomorrow, but no menu, thats for sure.

I always forget about turnips - I like them and they are a good sub for potatoes. Huh, I may add that to the menu for tomorrow!

Mernin, happy Wednesday!
QOTD - I come from a family of thin people. I think that my struggles with weight are mental, as I was told things like "You have such a pretty face if you would just lose some weight..." I definitely used to soothe myself with food, and all other sorts of behaviors that are way too much for this question. But yeah, I'm the only one.
Breakfast - oat milk latte, and a delicious cream cheese fruit pastry from a local place
Lunch - Veggie sandwich on a croissant, veggie soup
Dinner - no clue, thinking a salad since it will be a heavy food day
I hope you all have a great day and a lovely holiday!
Christina
Let it begin with me.
