Tomorrow marks 17 years since my WLS
Hi All,
Just my yearly check in. It's been 17 years since I had my gastric bypass at Yale with Dr. Bell (who is no longer there :( It has been a great run for me. Today I am at my lowest weight (down 113 lbs). This year was very challenging for me. I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and while recovering I ended up with COVID. Seven surgeries later, I am back on track again. I am so grateful for this tool and for the life it has given me back. I encourage anyone who is contemplating this surgery to do it. It's the hardest thing I ever did (before having breast cancer), but the best thing too!

Happy Anniversary! I had my surgery this year ( March). I love seeing people who had the surgery and managed to keep the weight off. It is inspiring. I hope that your cancer is in remission and you are feeling well.

thanks for your post! I have an upcoming surgery date of August 11, and was beginning to feel like I had only heard negative things about keeping the weight off. I'm glad you've had such longevity with your weight loss! Thanks for your encouragement, with hopes for your continued good health.
