LOL are you talking about the cassowary?! They are fantastic! I love that they are so deadly. Whenever we go to the zoo, I head directly to the back of the zoo where I can see them. I just sit and stare for a long time. They are so beautiful and huge!

Let it begin with me.

Hi All!

there's another (short) thread going on about starting off the morning menu posts. Melody said she's happy to be our primary thread-starter, but I was thinking we should have assigned backup people to get it started if nothing's up by a certain time (meaning Melody wasn't available that morning). That might alleviate some of the hesitancy of people posting, thinking someone else is posting at the same time.

Maybe if something isn't up by say, 9:00 am Eastern (8:00 am Central, 7:00 Mountain, 6:00 Pacific), the backup person could do the post? (or is that too early - we could move that up by an hour). I'm happy to take Saturday and Sunday backup duties since so few of us post then - but I can be the backup for some of the weekdays as well if we don't get enough volunteers (I just don't want to hog too many days)

let me know if you have any thoughts or want to volunteer to be the backup for certain days

thanks!

Good morning! I hope everyone is warm, healthy and happy this morning! I've got my coffee, my heater blasting on me and I'm at my desk starting to sort emails. Yesterday I failed at the good choices thing for a bit for dinner. But I really tried. I was craving these chipotle shrimp enchiladas a local place makes. So I ordered them hold the tortillas. Sort of a deconstructed mess in a bowl and every bit as good as I remember. I ate half, and had 5 tortilla chips and about a 1/4 C refried beans. SO good. On top of that, my exercise tracker never moved yesterday. Probably because my ass never did either. I'll work on that today.

QOTD: An elephant! he could come to work with me and just hang out.

Menu:

B: hb egg, 1/4 cottage cheese

L: leftovers from last night. But no chips!

D: still no groceries, so I am thinking El Pollo Loco Chicken

S: jerky/whisps as needed. Square of chocolate tonight if I have calories left

Peace Everyone!

Mornin'!

Boy do I feel like bloat city this morning. Calories were OK most of the day (MOST of the day - until evening), but I had a bowl of turkey chili for dinner that was probably loaded with sodium. Which was the first problem. But then I made biscotti afterwards, which I'm usually able to deal with since I'm not a huge sweets person. But not last night. I kept tasting the dough and then eating the broken pieces when they came out of the oven. According to my calculations (which I'm sure aren't too precise), i managed to scarf away about 2700 calories yesterday. Boy do I feel it today. So we're going to go light today, and half of these biscotti are going over to my friend's house. The other half I'll have DH hide. He loves them and is usually the sole cookie eater around here - but after last night, I do not trust myself around these things (it's Ina Garten's pistachio/cherry biscotti - and I threw in about a 1/2 C of white chocolate chips along with it. OMG - they turned out great!)

nothing scheduled for today, but I have a lot to do for my classes, and I also need to create a recovery flash drive for the laptop I bought for one of my civic organizations. So I'll be busy.

I'm so excited because a friend of mine who lives in Charlotte, NC emailed me awhile ago to tell me the minister at her church (Presbyterian) is moving here in April to be the senior pastor at the big Presby church downtown. She's a 40-ish woman, very progressive, with a lot of the same interests as me. She (the minister) and I have been messaging back and forth the last two or three weeks. She's renting a house in my neighborhood, and we're so excited to meet. It'll be so nice having a new friend - and someone with a lot of the same interests, so we should have no trouble finding things to do together. YAY!! Anyway, had to share that. Hopefully the weather will be cooperative in April (which it usually is..) so we can do outdoor things (due to the pandemic - I'm guessing it'll be fall before we can do indoor things again...)

B: protein shake, coffee with half & half

MS: pumpkin yogurt topped with 1/3 C high fiber cereal

L: 1-2 Costco chicken skewers with garlic-infused plain Greek yogurt

AS: protein muffin or yogurt

D: Indian curry (with chicken and vegetables) over riced cauliflower

have a great day, everyone!

Good Morning Melody and Menuers,

Thanks for the recipe Melody hopefully I will get a chance to try it. Did I tell you My DH is having his implant on March 23? Hoping this gives him the relief he's been looking for the last 8 years.

On the vaccine front No date scheduled yet however I am waiting for a call back from one of the hospitals that said they will get her in. But mind you I still have her signed in at over 7 places and I am not canceling anything till she get the shot. So this morning at 4:30AM I get a text from one of the largest hospitals here in the Pittsburgh area saying it's time to schedule her so I get out of bed at 4:30am and got the application all filled out and when I hit submit it did go. I tried 4 more times and still can not send it. Guess who was mad as hell being woken up at an ungodly hour for nothing. GAAAAA!!!!!

So being as angered as I was out got out of bed got dressed in my warm running cloths and I ran outside for the first time since January 15. Oh my do I feel so much better. The fresh air makes all the difference in the world.

QOTD: A Bear. They look cuddly all ready so scaled down I could hug and squeeze them.
